With Greg Roman either becoming our new Head Coach come January or Chuck Pagano's OC at the least, and RG3 coming in to replace Chase Daniels... I got thinking about the best running QBs in Bears history.

Here's the Top 10 Mobile QBs-Post Merger: (guys like Johnny Lujack and Ed Brown had some good run numbers, but not much tape out there on them)

1. Doug Flutie -that little rascal ran like the wind and could cut at full speed because his legs were so short.

2. Bobby Douglass- a fullback playing QB.

3. Jim Harbaugh- Jimmy had wheels and it was the best part of his game while he was in Chicago.

4. Vince Evans- In today's NFL, he'd be a Top 15-20 QB. Big arm and fast legs.

5. Kordell Stewart- Slash wasn't the same runner with us as he was in Pittsburgh, but even in his twilight years makes top 5 here.

6. Mitch Trubisky- He has good straight line speed but not much lateral agility at all.

7. Steve Fuller- another who was probably a better scrambler than passer.

8. Mike Tomczak- he wasn't afraid to put his head down and get the tough yards. Not a runner first, but could get out of harms way usually.

9. Josh McCown- good athlete who went helicopter on that Monday night blowout against Dallas. It was rad!

10. Jay Cutler- once he started losing his babyfat, he actually became worse of a runner, because when he was a fat lard, he wasn't easy to tackle.

Not the most impressive list of mobile QBs. If we signed an RG3 or even Jeff freaking Driskel, they'd immediatley be Top 5.

I think Flutie would have put together a nice little career with the Bears. But NOOOO!

You can thank Bill Tobin for that. A good personnel man overall, but he blew it there. Only Ditka saw what Flutie was to become.

Kyle Orton lost some speed once he grew that beard. Dumbass. If he stayed clean shaven we probably would have won more games when he was starting.

Craig Krenzel with the Bears had 18 rushes for 41 yards.

Ummm....

Did you ever see Doug Flutie play?

He only played a few games with the Bears but I can assure he's the most talented runner we ever had at the position.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky ran for more yards in 5 different games than Flutie ran in all of his Bears career.

Lol....stats.

I realize you teenagers think you have all the knowledge you need right in your hand with your smart phone, but football knowledge comes from watching the tape.

Not a Pro Football Reference search. Lol

Did this guy really just insinuate (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is better scrambler than Flutie was? LOL

That's not the point.

The point is no QB who ever signed a contract with the Chicago Bears was a more talented runner than Doug Flutie.

I'm asking for his best run in a Bears uniform. Show me the tape.

I will do the same for (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky after.

I'd put Caleb Hainie before Harbaugh. He had quick feet.

I don't remember Harbaugh being anything other than a statue and the object of Ditka's ire.

That's totally wrong. He was a good runner and strong. He played special teams.

Bobby Douglas was the best running quarterback ever on the Bears or any team for that matter. And he had a cannon for an arm. I always thought he was miscast as a football player. He should have been a major league pitcher. Maybe a closer?

Bobby D was a tough guy. But I would still take Flutie over him because of Fluties quickness. He looked like Barry Sanders on some of his escapes.

But right Lamar Jackson is ALREADY the GOAT for running QBs

Yes, I think Ditka made a great call to bring him in. I was so disappointed that McMahon, my favorite Bears QB, backed Tomczak instead and that Ditka gave in! It was so obvious that Flutie could move the team better and not turn over the ball as much. That was part of the disappointment so many of us had that the Bears didn't win multiple superbowls at the time.
