Will be much better with a competent QB, every team stacks the box and dares #10 to play QB. Several offensive personnel decisions make little sense? Coward over Bars? Signing Mike Davis, playing him over Wyhte, then losing Whyte? Why not sign/draft a TE, drafting Ridley and basically red shirting him this year makes less and less sense. The entire self scouting department should be fired instantly.

I'm beginning to wonder if Montegomery isn't that good. Whyte looked good for the Steelers yesterday..cue the Good Dolphin meltdown.

The Bears OLine is not good. The scheme is not good.

I forgot where I heard it (might have been on the Football Aftershow on NBCSN) but somebody pointed out that when Wims is on the field, the Bears run it 85% of the time. So if you're a linebacker and you see Wims out there, you basically know its a run and can abandon all coverage responsibilities. That's on coaching and scheme, not Montgomery.

There are only two possible causes of this. #1, Mitch is so so bad that Nagy had to dumb down everything and get rid of MANY plays because his QB is so bad. #2, Nagy is in way over his head and simply cannot run or design a capable NFL offense. Time will ultimately tell us what's up.

I just can't get over the change from last year to this though Frank. The line simply has to have some explanation other than just bad.

Long is out. Whitehair moved again. Massie was hurt yesterday. They got old and bad quick, and their QB and/or Coach is not helping them.

Kyle Long played in a whopping 8 games last year, professor.

Which is double the amount he played this season, Mr Rocket Surgeon.

I'm ready.

I really like what I have seen in Nall over the past two pre season. However, no one was going to pluck him from the PS if you left him there this year. So, when they cut Davis and needed to promote someone, why in the world would you have left the guy with at least one elite NFL level tool, who is a proven ST contributor on the PS and promoted Nall? This isn't a government job where seniority is the principal consideration.

Now we sit here with Nall, a guy who will most likely get cut once again in training camp next year, while Whyte gets picked up by an organization that seems pretty good at talent evaluation and immediately flashes.

Where is the self scouting and what was the logic behind that move?

I think the real key is Daniels not progressing as expected.

How can a guy drafted to play center not be able to figure out how to play center by his second year? It isn't that complex.

3 and 1.

Go under center starting from an I formation.

It isn't that difficult. Most teams are conceding the first down in that situation and guarding against a trick play.

I don't care if you qb sneak (hey, there is a novel trick play) or hand it off with a fb lead blocking. You should be able to hit 3rd and 1 at a 90% clip. I think the Bears are below 50%.

That is Nagy.

Had to work yesterday, so just watched game, and to say Leno was a turnstile would be an insult to turnstiles everywhere. He was lazy in his pass sets, and can't move his feet to react to outside or inside speed rushes.

Don't forget the massive regression of Leno. That guy is just plain terrible now.

He was terrible every year he played. That contract they game him was wasted money. When Long went down, they couldn't cover up how shitty both the tackles were on this team. This shit is all on Pace. He needs to get fired.

Good. I hope Whyte actually does something.

The idiot who took the Bears most valuable draft pick in years and turned it into Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is still gonna be at the helm to decide who the next Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky will be. And the supposed offensive guru is at the helm of an offense that, somehow, has regressed.

This team is so tiring to root for. Same shit every year with the occasional playoff appearance and one Super Bowl win now going on 33 years.

Yesterday I made a point of watching Leno block and my conclusion is that this guy needs to go. He is getting manhandled and falling over almost half of the time. The whole center/Whitehair fiasco is not good either. They really need to focus on upgrading the O-Line this draft/off-season.

Top teams are going back to power running games. Bears are as usual caught hiring the "genius" coach who has a gimmicky offense which the rest of the league eventually figured out and is now obsolete. Ravens lines up in two tight ends all night, it was amazing watching TE's that can actually block. How can Ravens find three or four TE's that are competent blockers and the Bears cannot find even one? Rams knew exactly what was coming, but could not stop it, the double teamed Donald all night, Bears tried this, but the quality of the coaching and line play between the teams is incredible. The Bears Oline is either terrible, terribly coached, or both?

Pace's Bears are two to three years behind the league right now and it will only get worse if they do not make massive changes to personnel and philosophy on offense.

By drafting TE's that actually played Division 1 football?

Yeah, it happens to QBs being figured out after one year and not being able to adjust, so why wouldn't it happen to inexperienced coaches too? I have a tendency to give coaches too much credit.

Another possibility about the OL is the OL room and QB room not being on the same page. Olin Kreutz talked about it on the Aftershow. Isn't Harry Hiestand a great or at least good OL coach?

Yes, the Aftershow and another show (can't remember which) talked about this. Last year, when White was on the field, at one point, it was 100% of the time when it was a running play. So, White last year and Wims this year. Nagy's offense (player package, scheme, etc.) has tells that work against Montgomery, (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky or whoever a play is designed for.

I vote for #2. There are many YouTube tape analyses of (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky these days, including All 22 views. For the exact same play, he'll throw a strike one time and be way off another time. He's way off when his mechanics aren't right, like his hip rotation. Coach him up and make him more consistent. Whether he can raise his consistency level to a high enough level with good coaching is a separate question.

Also, for #1, a YouTube channel called "Boom or Bust" showed and analyzed tape and concluded that Nagy ran the same concepts with Daniel as (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. Why would he do that? Why didn't he open up his playbook with Daniel?

A combination of awkward/obvious play calling, bad O-line play, and scheme are as much to blame as anything for a terrible run game this year. It’s crazy how many of our run plays see the RB get contact before the line of scrimmage.

Yeah, I think you're right. What do you think about what Olin Kreutz said this week about the OL room and QB room not being on the same page at times in his day? So, Nagy could be doing one thing, and not getting Hiestand on the same page as him? I listened to lower level coaches on YouTube talk as if this stuff happens all the time.

Oh, also, a couple of weeks ago, on the Aftershow, either Kreutz or Forte said that Nagy didn't run play action from the I formation. IIRC, it turned out that Nagy was blowing the dust off old Reid running plays and didn't have play action plays out of them. I thought the Reid/Nagy offense was about establishing the run, so play action could work, so maybe long passing plays could work. What am I missing?
