Being vegan sounds like a major pain in the ass. I mean other than having sex with other men in your butt. Fucking vegan sugar. Get a grip. What the fuck is wrong with people? We have molars assholes!

You live with all females. You know how hysterical we become during crises! This week is so hard. I was fairly successful in my practical tonight though. Little confidence boost.

I have to work on my vegan brownie tomorrow and do a report on it by Friday morning. Brutal!

It is. The wife wants to incorporate more vegan meals into our diet. It’s not been horrible but I laid the rules that we aren’t going psycho like Spaulding is. We’re not going to buy obscure vegan shit when normal ingredients are fine

It’s more of eat more veggies and less meat dealio and I haven’t minded it. Nice to switch things up.

Delicious in a chili I've heard.

Molars are for grinding plant fiber, incisors are for cutting meat.

Oh for cry-eye, i'm not psycho. I'm trying to define parameters. The internet info has been inconclusive and I was hoping somebody familiar with this god forsaken veganism could point me in the right direction. You guys are always supportive and there are a ton of different thoughts and viewpoints here which has always been a source of information and help for over a decade. If I hand in this report on Friday with common granulated sugar am I going to get dinged? is more or less what I'm asking.

Yep. Had I known I'd be around for seven years I would have thought more deeply about a moniker.

Spaulding, I figure who better to drop some knowledge about veganism than PETA:

Kirkwood is making sense.

Have you ever had vegan cheese? Its awful. I mean like throw up in your mouth and try to choke it down awful. I would rather eat cardboard. It makes a Velveeta slice taste like a 20 year aged $30lb cheese.

Spaulding, I sent a FB message to a buddy's sister who is pretty hardcore vegan. She said vegan stores, or health food stores, or Whole Foods may have some sugar that is not processed with any animal products. Try calling before you drive all over was her suggestion. She said she avoids the cheap ass granulated sugar at home and while cooking, but if she is out and orders a non-dairy dessert or something, she doesn't ask if its make with vegan sugar. She also is a habitual Starbucks drinker and while she generally tries to use sweetener or Almond/Soy milk, she has used their sugar in the past and hasn't felt bad about it.

my office is 10 ft from a vegetarian and a pescitarian. They luckily are completely chill about it. they have many vegan aquaintances through yoga and they said that its kind of all over the place. for these 2 its a health thing, for others its think of the animals thing.

All that to basically say....it depends.

Creating restrictive sets of rules is also a way to normalize an eating disorder.

She sent a follow up message.

"About 2 years ago, I got my tonsils and for a few days the only thing I could really eat was jello and dairy free ice cream- which is not necessarily vegan free. I wasn't real proud of it, but I had to eat something!! its more of a healthy lifestyle for me than being crazy with NO ANIMAL ANYTHING. i have leather boots lol and [my husband] eats a lot of vegan meals with me, but still has burgers now and then when im not around. So after surgery anything remotely warm hurt so I couldnt do vegetable broth. Tell your friend that sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and if I'm at a christmas party in a few weeks and there are gluten free or (suppsodly) vegan cookies laying around, I'm not going to demand a list of ingredients before I eat a couple."

So, you can take that for what its worth.

Vegans are usually terrible people but the worst of the worst are those with dogs who they force veganism on. Those folks should be murdered.

Agreed. Hopefully the dogs eat them in their sleep. Would serve their dumbasses right.

My work buddy decided to change his diet about 18 months ago in an effort to lose enough weight to control his blood sugar and pressure- at 44 he was on meds for both, 310+lbs, and lost his Dad to diabetes (Agent Orange induced)

He's dropped a hundred pounds and is completely med free, with perfect sugar and no pressure issues. He continues to eat vegan, and is very strict about it, but is absolutely not a pain to be around at all. Plans all his own meals (single guy) and never whines that the treats we all bring in or the Boss buys for us don't fit his plan. The change was obvious, as was the disappearance of his legendary flatulance!

I even tried it for the Fall refueling outage, so I went vegan-ish back in September until recently. It didn't do any real dramatic changes for me, I have dropped about 15 pounds, but actually feel worse joint-wise. I tend to avoid beef when eating out, but will eat the meat we raise.

The two guys I work with who eat an Adventist diet are far more difficult to be around, probably more due to their completely non-existent church life and immaturity. "You know, your stories of overseas fetish hookers and strip club visits probably have more to do with your probable damnation than that one piece of bacon on that free pizza."
