These 2 clowns have absolutley NO CLUE. Shameful considering the Bears practically INVENTED the position with Hall of Famer Mike Ditka.

Nagy and his "U" tight end malarkey, lol.

What does it say about Pace and Nagys evaluation abilities when it took 13 weeks for them to get Horsted on the field.

Guys like Tom Coughlin or Kyle Shanahan would've had Horsted out there goin all George Kittle by Week 2 this year.

Theyre so by the book it makes me sick. Pace is because he still has NO EARTHLY IDEA how he got to where he is considering he still writtes in crayon.

And Nagy thinks Arena League passing is how you win a Super Bowl.

We are so screwed.

Anyway, how bad must the versatility of the offense be when they can't take a tall guy like Shaheen and have him watch Patriots film and say don't do anything but run down the seam and catch.

They would be lucky to have the talent level of Mularkey at tight end.

What happened to Ian Bunting? They fed that guy the ball and praised him all pre season. Then, they cut him and he was signed to someone else's practice squad. They have signed three practice squad players to their regular team now in Holtz, Horsted and some chump I have never heard of this week. Same with Dax Raymond, although I think he is hurt and they are reserving him for next year.

It really is pathetic how even bad teams have a good tight end or two and then you take a look at the Bears cascade of characters at the position. Not only can't these jag-offs get open and catch passes, they also can't block worth a shit.

If J.P. Holtz can improve as a receiver, then he's a start, along with Horsted.

Also would love to see more of Dax "Everybody Loves" Raymond.

But one things for sure. Shaheen and Burton gotta go.

This offense is designed for a TE to produce. These fringe TE's are making plays because they have a pulse, and appear motivated, that is all. But they shouldn't be considered NFL starters.

It just speaks to how pathetic Shaheen and Burton were.

A while back my son and I were discussing current offenses being used as compared to back when I was a kid during the 80's, and for fun we went back and watched a game from '86, it was the Giants and the Cowboys. The Giants were a real running team, and it was amazing how many 2-TE and even 3-TE sets they ran out of on any down, and how they ALWAYS had a FB in front of Joe Morris, and even against stacked boxes they were running very successfully. The Cowboys were the same way with Dorsett and Herschel Walker often on the filed together in 2-TE sets and only rarely had 3 WR on the field at any time. I dont think the Giants EVER had 3 WR on the field in that game. Mark Bavaro was looked upon as a very unusual commodity during that game as a gifted pass-catching TE. The other thing that struck me was how violent things were in the pocket - Danny White got the shit knocked out of him in that game and I am sure a lot of those sacks would have been instant flags these days, but back then nobody gave a shit, the officials pretty much stood there and watched him peel himself up off the carpet while the defense celebrated.

It was fun watching that old game, and we have watched a couple others since, its like a whole different game being played now, and not in a good way.

Yep. The spread/shotgun/four wide offense makes the game worse. Or at least bad because everyone mostly does the same crap.

That was the essence of the 85 Bears approach. Sure, go complete some passes and we will hit your quarterback over and over. The Cowboys game was the apex, with John Madden trying not to cum on the air in the booth while Pat had another drink.

I think the Raiders was the game that defined the defense. I think they were down to Ray Guy at QB who was afraid to go in.

Agree 100%

Looking back I miss the days when a team would run the ball right down a defense's throat. It is the essence of football, that I am going to whip the man in front of me....your going to eat shit and like it. Now it seems for many teams the strategy is were going to outscheme you, or in other words out trick you <cough> Bears <cough>. Some of that nastiness is gone, prime example #1 is the Bears offensive line, it is like they play with pillows in front of them.

I miss old fashion trap plays. I miss the sweeps with guards leading the backs around the corner. Now the offensive lineman are so big most can't get out in front. Again when was the last time you saw Bear offensive lineman get downfield a make a good block on a screen pass. Most of the time they don't hit anyone.

I haven't seen enough of SF to comment, but I have seen some Ravens games and yes I do love the way they are willing to run on 2nd and 8 with a couple TE's. It is making me really pull for that team, I would love to see things swing a bit more back in that direction. Baltimore is DEFINITELY imposing their will on the opponents and have not been put in a "we need to pass every down" situation in any of the games I have seen them play.

For me those days never ended.

Matt Nagy was dead to me the day he got hired.

Our only hope is that the next GM and coach remember that football is won in the trenches and by imposing your will on the ground.

Holy christ, the 80's are over, and never coming back.

Please go jump in a hot tub time machine while holding a laptop that's plugged in.
