That is not going to happen/ They can't possibly put those two guys in the same outfield.

Moncada is the one who seems the versatile one. He brought it up himself that he'd be willing to go to the outfield.

You gotta love guys like Moncada right? He seems like a throwback to the days where players were just happy to be being baseball players. Sanchez, Mendick, and Leury seem like that also.

It's possible the White Sox are in a holding pattern in the OF. They put Robert in center and see what happens. Leury is a competent major leaguer and the org likes him. They think his potential has not been reached yet.

I hope not. They need an outfielder from somewhere. Leury is a very good complimentary player and a valuable one but not as a guy who starts in the majority of games in a set position. I don't see the help they need coming from anyone on the 40 man roster. I do think that they need pitching more as a priority but they also need a decent outfielder, wherever they end up shuffling people around.

Some of you guys keep talking as if Madrigal and Robert are not going to be on the team for the majority of next season. I'm almost certain they will be. I won't even be shocked if one or even both break camp with the team depending upon how things go in spring. At this point I don't think it's worth fucking around with service time as the rules are going to be changed in the next agreement and I'm going to say that when the CBA expires in 2021 that guys who have obviously had their service time manipulated will be addressed and that doesn't even take into consideration the Bryant grievance.

Just from how Hahn sounded yesterday, I am guessing Robert breaks camp.

There is uncertainty Madrigal is there for the majority of the season.

And yeah. The CBA rules being changed is a slam dunk.

I don't think it is a slam dunk service rules are changed. Its not like the players have power.

Players in all sports have been established as people who can not budget and change their life styles. Owners can wait them out for a lot longer than they can strike. That has been shown time and time again. NHL players held out long enough to cancel a season and still got fucking crushed.

What I personally would like to see is lowering of service time for a cap on contract length.

Do you believe the owners will go to the wall on service time? Even if it's just getting rid of the loophole?Besides, there's a lot of negotiating room including arbitration. Players can give on that for shorter service time.

Do MLB owners still get paid the TV money during a strike like the NFL owners were going to? If so, they will absolutely go to crush them even more than they did last time.

If you change the luxury tax set up, I think everyone will be happy. The top end of the market is ruined by what is essentially a luxury tax. Large market teams hate the luxury tax too.

While I think this is highly possible, this would be a big shift in priority for the players union. Historically, they've given zero fucks about the younger players....all about the veterans. The players have done a good job of making this issue visible to fans and the general public where I think it could give them a PR edge. I think most fans really hate seeing emerging stars held down in the minors longer than needed....just not convinced this is THE hill the Players union wants to die on.

That's why there's no motivation for a journeyman to stick his neck out for the next generation of guys coming up.

Their necks are already stuck out. It's like bringing non-union into a union shop. 6-7/8 years is an eternity.

Exactly.
The only thing the owners might be getting wise to is $25Million+ for players over 35 years old. Still plenty of money being shelled out to players age 27-35. They could care less what the rookies make.

For whatever reason, if the union DOES negotiate this....the owners will find another way to shaft the players.

That is just insane money. As good as Cole is, I am fine with the Sox spending money like that across two or three other guys.

Madbum wants at least 100 million over 5 years. Sox will be shopping at the pitching dollar store.
