My wife's uncle is being transferred to a nursing home out there today at 104th and Roberts, so we are going down there this afternoon/early evening to get him settled. Any place good to eat nearby? I haven't been down that way in a while.

I'm a huge fan of krapils, on 111th and the interstate.. nicest beer garden around..

If you are just looking for something quick.. there's a BBQ joint on 111th street 4 blocks west of krapils on the south side of street..best garlic bread I've ever had.. good BBQ too.

Also, 107th and Roberts I think is a place like Nicky's called Mickey's. Big baby, hot dogs, gyros.

I always thought The Pit was overrated.

Krapils is a good suggestion.

Jack Gibbons on 147th in Oak Forsest. Chuck's on 79th in Burbank.

Shouldn't the burger guy be making the drive a little bit east to visit Top Notch?

If I'm going to wander that far afield I'm just going up to Bridgeview for Middle Eastern food. I have a lot of South Side customers on the weekends. I often bring up Top Notch, people like it but they aren't religious about it.

312, is this the BBQ place? http://www.gematoswoodpitbbq.com/

that's the bbq place. I think the pit is appropriately rated.

Krapil's is decent if you want steak.

The Pit sucks and so does Gemato's

just go a little further north and go to Chuck's

and if you were going to go to Top Notch go to Manzo's instead

Chuck's is decent, it was better 15 years ago. What's your beef with gimattos?

I've never tried the pit

There is a decent taco lunch place called Macho Taco up north on Roberts, maybe around 82nd.

I went to a 25th wedding anniversary party at Capri in Palos Heights last year and the authentic Italian food was great. There seemed to be a fair amount of off the boat Italians there, so it made me trust the place all the more. After dinner, we spilled over to a Polish joint on the same block called Highlander house, where they served us the stiffest drinks I have had since I visited my grandfather's tavern. They also let us try out the Polish food, and the gwumpkis and pierogis were great. After that, we shuffled over to a place called Zacks Tap that had a nice beer garden, and after that, we had to call an Uber home because we were fried and nobody knew how to get home.

I don't know if anybody had a beef with it, but you sure gave it a ringing endorsement when you couldn't even remember the place's name, then said try the garlic bread.

I am actually a big fan of the Pepe's franchise's funky-flavored ground beef tacos.

The beef has the weirdest, almost indescribable, funk to it - never tasted anything like it anywhere else - but it is so good.

I find that the steak, chips, and salsa are different from franchise to franchise, and the chicken is pretty good, but sometimes franchises will try their own thing with that, too, and it is usually not as good (Pee's has a tomato-based sauce they put the chicken in that is pretty good).

Garnachas are pretty good.

On 63rd just west of Kedzie Pepes was an institution. Particularly for underage drinks but particularly because of the disco type longer haired dyed blonde Mexican waiter.

Their location in Tinley is excellent.

Not that it matters but 104th and Roberts is Palos Hills not Palos Heights. (People often get the Heights, Hills, and Park mixed up).

If you want much better eating options just go to Orland.

Bagels said it sucks, I'd say he's no fan. I've only been there twice, the sauce is sweet..which normally I don't care for..but it works for them.. check it out, I guarantee you it will be the best garlic bread you've ever had. I've had the pulled chicken and the pulled pork.. they serve it up with a baked potato and garlic bread for 12 or 13$.

The Pepe's on 95th, west of Roberts is a good one. I kinda miss that place too.

Well, The Pit was good 13 years ago...
