What will almost certainly happen is the Sox will do just enough to make the Indians deal Kluber and Lindor but not enough to seriously threaten the Twins. Then they'll do cheap Sox shit like keep Robert down for service time reasons that winds up costing them in the long-run.

And by the time the Sox are actually ready to make their run at it the Tribe will have developed a few players to put around the absolutely gargantuan returns they'll get when they sell-off and the division will be utterly hopeless.

Not only that, but in grand White Sox tradition, they trolled their fans afterwards even though the fan complaints have obviously been legitimate

Yep. They put the same thing on Facebook to which I replied, "mAkE A mOvE iN ThE sTaNdInGs aLrEaDy"

It received MANY likes.

In fairness that was assuredly some social media intern (or similar recent college grad idiot), and obviously not the attitude of the people in the organisation who actually matter. You dont need to deliberately look to far into the moronic ramblings of an extremely online angsty communications major to find reasons to be pissed at the White Sox.

What a crock. If you're buying ten fucking games they should give you an Opening Day ticket if you want it. Make it SRO if need be.

These guys are so out of touch its ridiculous.

at least White Sox fans have cause to complain. not sure how you bitch about a team that routinely
spends north of $200 million a season on payroll and probably got Belichick'd out of winning the WS.

Its honestly not a bad deal if they'd just make it known that Robert is going to break camp as the starter in center field.

There is zero incentive to buy Sox tickets in advance. I will be able to walk up to all 81 games and buy the cheapest ticket in the house. Most days I'll be able to sit wherever I want.

But $320 million is too much for a pitcher! I'd rather they spread that out between 3-4 bums. Makes so much more sense

That is fucking ballsy. I hope he realizes that if the Sox offered a full or 1/2 season SRO tickets, you would probably buy it every year.

Of course. He's reading a script. I told him I would buy two for all 81 if he could put together a package for standing room at $10 a game. He can't do shit. Why the fuck would I commit to 20 games (which I will probably end up going to anyway), when there will be a guy sitting five rows in front of my seat drinking 2 free beers who paid less than I did? No thanks. Then his script mentions the playoffs and I laugh.

I was typing the above before I saw your post, Frank.

You wouldn't believe the amount of pennies laying around on the concourse

The Sox do not use an SRO to their advantage. The concourse is a great place to stand around, have a few beers, and watch the game. They would likely see MANY more full and split season plans if they offered such an animal. Or, spend some of that Rate money and turn two of the section down the line (lower corners) into a beer garden and sell SRO tickets there. Do that down the RF line and you'll have people running up to the Sox Social lounge to spend even more $ on Revolution and other craft beers.

I'm waiting for them to start selling the seats outside the Revolution room. People have caught on to the trick of buying the cheapest possible seat and getting there early enough to grab those. I've seen families with five kids glomming those seats up there and not drinking a single beer (obviously).

I don't even know if they would sell out a playoff game.

I walked up to that game 163 a few years ago and bought a single.

They would sell out a playoff game without question.

Game 163 sold out in like 2 hours as soon as the Sox beat the Tigers on Monday afternoon. I waited almost 40 minutes just in a will call line to pick my tix up.

Also, Eleven years also isn't a few years ago.

I went on dog night this past September on a night that was in the mid 80's and checked those seats out. It was hot as blazes up there. I didn't stay long.

What drives you crazy is that the Indians are on the absolute verge of giving up while the Twins are waving goodbye to almost their entire rotation. The Royals and Tigers aren't currently making any sort of sincere effort to win games either. This is a time where the Sox could spend just money on a starting pitcher (other than Mark Buehrle) for once and they'd cruise. The Indians would balance the threat posed by the Sox and their odds of making it past both us and the Twins and probably give up. Then all the Sox would need to do is get past Minnesota, who is facing a ton of uncertainty themselves.

There is no easier path to the playoffs than the ALC. It is basically free for anyone who wants it.

Yep. The Sox could dominate this division if JR ponied up the cash and the fans would come out to support a winner. There is no reason why the Sox shouldn't act like a big market team. But not Jerry. It's his world and everyone must live in it.

Just like the Bulls. They (the Bulls) are now nothing more than a dysfunctional franchise and based on the last few games attendance figures, the fans are saying screw this team.

The Sox made 1 good signing (Grandal) and then the checkbook dried up. What a sad sad state of affairs on the South Side. And it ain't much better on the North Side with their lack of player development and drunken sailor Theo and clown boy Jed and now yes man Ross.

Funny stuff. I have been a harsh critic of Reinny for a long time but I give the Sox quite a bit of credit for the line-up that they are going to put onto the field via smart trades and good free agent signings. And the last time I looked there are a helluva lot of players available for free agency and available via trade. I think that Hahn is a good general manager.

They are way better offensively and defensively adding Mazara and Grandal. That's fifty more HR right there. Not just gross fifty more HR, net fifty more HR over whatever they would've played at those positions already. Start penciling in an optimistic debut for Robert and a glass-half-full progression of Eloy and Moncada...the Sox are going to score a lot. No doubt about it. What they've done to shore up the batting order is commendable.

But yea, its hard to watch all these pitchers sign and know the Sox stand no real chance at getting any of them. Even Ryu would be a massive help...but that's just not a contract they seem willing to hand out. They're just going to try and catch lightning in a bottle again.

50 more home runs? How did you come up with that? Did Catcher and RF have zero last year?

I suppose you might think that Mazara would certainly add 20-25 more home runs in right field. And I would also say that both McCann and Grandal can both be in the batting order at the same time, one catching and the other being a DH. So while basically you would not be adding home runs from the catching position per se, you would be adding around 25 or so more home runs over all to the team.

Look, to deny that this team is going to have a dominant batting order is ridiculous.

1. Anderson -- SS 20+ HRS 75 -80 RBIs

2. Moncada -- 3B 25+ HRS 85-90 RBIs

3. Abreu -- 1B 35+ HRS 100-110 RBIs

4. Jimenez -- LF 40+ HRS 100-110 RBIs

5. Grandal -- C/DH 25-30 HRS 75-80 RBIs

6. Robert -- CF 20-25 HRS 70-75 RBIs

7. Mazura -- RF 20-25 HRS 75- 80 RBIs

8. McCann -- C/DH 15-20 HRS 65-70 RBIs

9. Mendick -- 2B 10-15 HRs 60-65 RBIs

Going from having to deal with the Astros and A's staff to now the abysmal AL Central staffs doesn't put thirty home runs out of the question for Mazara. That's plus twenty-five in right field.

Grandal doesn't just boost power production from the catcher position. He gives them a thirty home run guy that can play first, DH and catcher. The Sox situation at DH has been horrible for decades now, the only time they have a decent hitter there has been when Abreu needs a day off from playing the field. Grandal isn't really replacing anyone, McCann is still going to get a lot of playing time (if he doesn't get dealt) and Abreu was retained for a reason. Grandal is basically taking the place of a collection of woefully substandard AAA players the Sox have stubbornly given playing time to. Everything the Sox get out of Grandal is replacing something that barely belongs playing professional baseball, he is literally filling for a void.

Yep 8) 8) 8)
