Even before Cedric became the loser of all losers shouldn't Angelo have had a RB in camp? A Vetran back that has started at some point in his career? I like AP and all, but he is a journeyman back up.

Now this kid Forte is just on an Island.

They need someone in here ASAP

And they need to sign FORTE asap

I agree. I think they should sign Kevin Jones and give him a shot. I think he is a good back and has some mileage left on his wheels.

I dont think this will be an issue. Can you name the last 2nd round hold out? The salaries of 2nd round players is much more clear cut. I have every reason to expect Forte will be signed and in camp on time.

The Bears have a gaping hole at running back, even before Cedric Benson became the latest in a long line of first round NFL Draft flops with 2 arrests within 5 weeks for alleged driving and boating while intoxicated. If you think for a second that 2nd round pick Matt Forte can come in right away and do the heavy lifting for this sorry offense, think again. Bears' GM Jerry Angelo has to find a proven veteran who can start for this team right away, not to mention find a third-string QB. I read something a few weeks ago on ChicagoBears.com that the Bears actually tried to pry Bruce Gradowski off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who saw limited at best snaps each of the last 2 seasons for Jon "Chucky" Gruden. Another Buccaneer QB, Chris Simms, is thisclose to being cut from that roster after missing a great deal of time with a broken spleen. As painful as it sounds, NFL inner circles seem to think the son of CBS Sports' analyst & former New York Giant QB Phil Simms might end up here. The Bears better get to work!

Benson's drinking saved Wolfe's roster spot IMO. I doubt JA will bring in anyone else.

More of the same. They obviously should have signed a RB last year during the season, but they just sat tight.

How many 2nd round picks have had as much leverage as Forte does now?

The last major second round holdout I can think of is Bob Sanders a few years back who used the fact that he was the Colts first pick of the draft for more money.

Forte has signed today, so need to worry about a holdout.

Thomas Jones aside, the Bears history of picking up free agent offensive skill players isn't very encouraging. I'd rather wait it out til next off season and hope the offensive line improves this year enough instead of picking up another has-been or never-will-be at running back.

Why the fuck not? Im sure you can get him at just out of surgery price.

He is visiting the Bucs next week...

Why does this team just continually turn a blind eye to depth and talent issues when there are/were cheap free agents that have some talent, and will definitely alleviate the depth issue?

Let me go a little "Boers" on you:

"My people" are saying that the Bears will sign Kevin Jones in the next couple of days. I'm not sayin', just sayin'.....
