In my humble opinion, the best Christmas album of all time. For the uninitiated, it's Phil Spector's wall of sound take on many Christmas classics as well as some new (at least as of the 1960's) material.

Very cool. Thanks for the heads up. I'm gonna head to the local shop and see if they have it.

Amazing album. It's playing in my house pretty consistently between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Almost everything on it is THE definitive version of a classic/contemporary classic Christmas song. "The Bells of St. Mary" is a revelation on that CD, but the album is also a tour de force for the Ronettes.

Great album. This is always in rotation around xmas time in the DB household. Darlene Love's Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) is up there with one of the best female vocal performances of all time. Spector probably made her do a couple hundred takes at gunpoint, but she nailed it.

It's terrific. I love 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" too.

I also recommend the Ultra-Lounge Christmas Cocktails series, which is full of Nancy Wilson, Julie London, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, all the favorites. Julie London's "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm" will make you melt.

My favorite has always been Christmas With The Rat Pack.

yes...this one is great.

The Phil Spector "A Christmas Gift For You" is definitely in my top 3.

Warren Newsome is a quality poster.

I went and looked this up, just seeing what the hell it was all about....and damn, that's a fun album. I had no idea all those songs were on a single album. I needed one more present from the Missus, so this is gonna be it. Great call.

I still contend that Warren Newsome (the player and perhaps the poster) must have had the thickest you-know-what in history.

It's been quite a few years and I don't even remember where it was but I saw Ronnie Spector doing a live Christmas set. She was pretty great.

I've been listening to a lot of Spector produced stuff lately. Especially All Things Must Pass and The Ronettes collection. The Wall of Sound is pretty great. Listen to "The Art of Dying" and "What is Life" by George Harrison. Genius stuff

That opening always makes me think of “Gremlins”. Ranks with one of the best openings to a movie ever.

I haven't been in a Christmas music type of mood this year and haven't listened to it at all. Maybe I'll give it a spin when I do some wrapping.

Great recommendation! Thanks!

Glad you liked it. So much good stuff on those, even the bonus track where they do an advertisement for Toys for Tots.
