This would be an interesting discussion.

Lamar Jackson 2019 needs to make the top 10 list at the very least.

Imo, 2019 Lamar > 2018 Mahomes and it’s not particularly close.

I should’ve specified we’re talking about sports that at least one non family member of the athlete gives a shit about.

Then it can't be your guy cuz some asshole will point out that his accomplishments were made possible by being a member of a team.

Probably the correct answer.

I'd take Secretariat's 1973 season over Bonds 2001. Much more dominant from top to bottom.

Holy shit Barry Sanders 1988

Quote:
Sander’s 1988 season was so good it’s hard to believe it was even real.

He rushed for 2,628 yards and 37 touchdowns in 11 games.

In the Holiday Bowl he added 222 yards and five more touchdowns, bringing the 12-game total to 2,860 yard and 42 touchdowns. That’s an average of 237.5 rushing yards and 3.5 touchdowns per game! He also had 515 return yards with two touchdowns and 106 receiving yards, giving him 3,471 all-purpose yards and 44 total touchdowns.

Sanders set 34 NCAA records in 1988, including rushing yards, touchdowns, points scored, and all-purpose yards.

Right up there with American Pharoah, Lance Armstrong, and Kornelia Ender.

I don't think people can comprehend just how dominant Ruth was. The numbers are just too big to really understand, like the vastness of space.

His home run total of 59 were more than entire teams hit.

Ruth and #99. Everyone else can take a back seat. Gretzky completely dwarfs Michael Jordan statistically, though it's not fair to compare guys from different sports. But I'm gonna do it: Gretzky was Ruth.

Agreed. The two were alien compared to the rest of the players in their league.

Jordan was far superior as much for intangible items than tangible.

Yep, but that’s selling it short. He also had 120 assists. That’s 212 points in 80 games. Simply ridiculous.

68 Bob Gibson is definitely a good one.

Gretzky seems to be the winner tho….crazy numbers for one season.

FF, curious why you think Jackson 2019 and Mahomes 2018 are not close?

170 something walks that year, mostly intentional. He'd have hit 150 if they threw to him.

Mahomes did something we’ve seen before at one of the highest levels possible. Lamar did something we’ve never seen before and many didn’t think was possible.
