Along with assistant special teams coach and Kevin Gilbride.

What a joke.

Hiestand will be hired by the end of next week.

And honestly, this is the best thing for their careers.

I hope Helfrich breaks bad on Nagy/(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky.

That'd be great, foolish though unless he's taking a HC job in college.

Pace/Nagy feeling the heat a little, time to bring in NFL OC and let Nagy be CEO of team. This is actually encouraging news, they need a fresh set of eyes to rebuilt this offense from the ground up.

Seems kind of weaselly to announce after the press conference, but it's the Bears.

The O line was one of the biggest issues this year.

I agree with those that want the head of the O line coach. Also how much did the OC play into those poorly planned shotgun runs. Was that Oregon crap more so the KC?

But wasn't Hiestand running Nagy's blocking scheme?

Also: Leno, Long, and Massey aren't/weren't very good. Was that Hiestand's fault?

Daniels didn't develop either despite everyone raving about how great he would be.

Hiestand was sold as a guy who would help guys get better. No one got better under him.

I just think so much more of this is on Nagy.

He chose his coaches.

Hiestand will be through guys like Kreutz.

This is great. Now we will be able to hear "people within the organization were saying..." type stories

Shurmur can work within the general framework of Nagy's offense

Hard to believe a guy who pumped out first-round offensive linemen at Notre Dame is a poor teacher.

How would you like to be Gilbride?

The top two players at your position basically peace, out on the team even before training camp. The third guy shows more as a TE than he has ever shown in his previous three years. The organization gives you a multi year practice squad player from Washington mid season and you make the guy look like a legit NFL player. Then they give you another PS player in his first year of being converted from WR and you make HIM look like a legit NFL player.

Then they fire you.

That will be the question. Who is calling the plays? Is there any reason to think it won't be Nagy?

The big question is what they are being fire for, particularly Helfrich.

If Helfrish wasn't calling plays, what was his role and why was he held accountable?

Hiestand is obviously well regarded, but the offensive line sucked this year. Daniels had higher grades on PFF, but changed positions at mid-season. Leno was awful, and Whitehair regressed. Under Nagy, there hasn't been a commitment to a running game and Pace hasn't improved the tackles. It's clear the OL needs major changes this off-season, but this seems to be a roster issue vs. coaching.

I was somewhat surprised they didn't make these moves yesterday, but this is the time of year to make these moves.

also, you fire the ASSISTANT special teams coach?

presumably, the HC is in charge of the system and quality control, which were poor. The assistants are in charge of individual people, which were good.

He also chose his crappy blocking scheme.

And why isn't he taking the blame for Mitch's regression?

Nagy, not Helfrich, was hired to develop Mitch and create an offensive juggernaut. Nagy fails in HIS two primary objectives and fires Helfrich as a result. Coward.
