Pace and Nagy said basically nothing but coach speak. No surprise.

I was amused by McCaskeys comments. I think he was trying his best to guard his thoughts. I think he wanted to say they have the next year to fix stuff or changes would be made...but he knows that would not be a good message to give out.

Disagree. I think they all think they’re Michael when in reality they are a bunch of Fredo’s

What did you expect Pace to say? As of today, that's a true statement based on the current roster.

Simple, like others have already said: our offensive play was unacceptable this year and we're looking for improved play at all positions. No job is promised and we will promote increased competition moving into training camp next year to assemble the best unit in football. etc

Instead this dumbfuck just doubled down on his shit QB. Probably traded two first rounders to some team out of habit when talking about Mitch.

To be fair, Pace did say later in the press conference that always want competition in all positions.

Can we get some competition at the General Manager position?

I didn't say cut him.

To just hand him the starting job with no competition next season is monumentally stupid.

You expected Pace to announce that the QB spot would be an open competition for next season....today? His actions, not his words, will do the the talking on what they think of Mitch as the starter.

Potentially, but the $$$ will decide and/or if they need to trade for a QB (w/limited picks next season although they could dip into 2021).

Like hearing Nagy saying Mitch needs to be a master of reading defenses.

I don't know why it's doubtful that they would take a QB in the draft. They could, but a lot will be driven on what they do prior to the draft. If they do take a QB in the draft, we're likely looking at mid-round type though so not likely to be immediate competition.

That being said to say Mitch is the unquestioned starter is a very tone deaf and disappointing statement. There's no appearance of accountability. Mitch and the offense are the only reason the season is over.

Floyd is a good NFL OLB, but he doesn't not great in any area. He's versatile, and depending on free agent options, wouldn't be opposed to swapping his $$$ for another rusher. Tough decision though.

Find a replacement for Miller? Not likely. They invested a 2nd round pick in him and he did show up (finally) in the 2nd half of the season. Still, with these shoulder injuries and not putting together a full season yet, he's a question mark as to how good he can be. Right now, he's the #2 WR and that's not likely to change. I also wouldn't expect the WR group to change much either. Gabriel will not return and Ridley/Wims will compete for more time.

When converted to Pace's chart you find that he's graded as a top ten pick whose worth trading up for. Extra points if the prospect graduated from no name schools.

I think Burton's contract is the issue with cutting him now. They won't depend on him.

You know far more about the college guys than I ever will. I hope they get a guy from a school with a quality track record who can catch and will attempt to block.

Hurts is everything Mitch wasn't (experienced starter, has played in high level games) and his poor play in LSU game likely drops him into second round, but may be more of a system guy. Picking him and Hopkins in second would be a good move unless a higher graded OT or CB slides down to them. A competent NFL journeyman LT would be an upgrade from Leno, they overpaid and over valued him. Still need a veteran TE to make this offense go can likely carve out some cap room by losing Trevathon, Amukamura, Long, and Daniel. Upgrades at QB, OLB, DT, and RT would go a long way, but likely not possible given the lack of draft picks/cap room. It all goes back to the QB position, competence from that position and they are likely back in playoffs, excellence at that position and they can win the NFC Central

According to Matt Miller (NFL Draft Scout on Twitter), Hurts isn't dropping. He was never a 1st round pick and is more likely to be a 3rd rounder.

What would you like the Bears to do? They aren't cutting Mitch, that's the one guarantee, but, given that, how would like them to handle the QB position this off-season?

Some real bullshit dishes out today man. Did they really honestly believe we would buy this shit?

"Mitch needs to be a master of reading defenses.... hes close..."
What kind of happy bullshit is that? Yeah mitch needs to read defenses. And I just need to grow another 9 inches and shed 25 years and I'll be in the NBA.

"Leonard Floyd can grow as a pass rusher..."
Well? We're waiting. What exactly makes them think now after several years he'll learn a skill he hasn't learned?

"Shaheen just needs to get healthy"
And once he does that he needs to look like a football player.

"Burton needs surgery"
Hopefully a lobotomy. He needs a fucking shrink.

"Shaheen is talented. We like what we see."
See now if talent evaluation is your weakest skill why announce it to the whole world with a statement like that?

"We need competition at every position"
But they declared mitch your guy and I'm pretty sure they fellated Piniero too, bragging about his last 11 for 11.

Voop voop ziiiing honk honk
