I think people expected more out of Montgomery because he was being compared to Kareem Hunt in the Matt Nagy offense with KC in 2017. Now people are realizing that Montgomery will never be on the same level as Kareem Hunt.

Nagy compared him to Walter Payton and tried to walk it back.

It was towards the end of camp and Nagy was gushing about Montgomery and the Bears history of great running backs. Then he said that he didn't want to go there yet and say Montgomery would be that good but that's essentially what he was doing.

I just lost even MORE respect for Nagy if he actually said that Montgomery would be "that good" comparing him to Walter Payton. I would really like to hear the exact quote.
