I know Adolfo had the injury, but I was most optimistic he was gonna have the break out season. Now, I am hoping for Basabe to be that guy. I have no faith in Rutherford.

Burger is done playing baseball, and Sheets sucks.

IF Burger was done he wouldn't be on the 40 man roster first of all. Never know about his kind of injury. It may be healed. The kid can hit and has big time power. And Sheets was a 2nd round pick and hit well in the spacious Birmingham field.

Right, he is not on the 40 man, but if you wanna use that argument, they have 5 catchers on the 40 man. Not putting too much stock into the 40man. He is about to be 24yrs old, has 51 total minor league games under his belt, hasn't played above Low A. He is done. Sheets showed in the AFL, he can not hit. He is gonna be a AAAA guy.

He is not done. He's had injuries. Bad injuries, Sheets can hit. He'll be moved to 3A and Burger to 2A. From there it is anyone's guess. Both of these guys can hit and are still young. We'll see what happens.

This lineup is stacked and not just stacked in comparison to the half AAAA group they have trotted out the last few years.

I don't see a true weakness in the batting order.

Rookies may not develop as quickly as we like which may ultimately sink the playoff drive.

The 'weakness' is the lineup is probably going to be Robert as he will get a steady diet of breaking stuff and I expect there will be some growing pains similar to Eloy. Good thing for him is that speed never goes into a slump.

He would still hit an occasional bomb, but Eloy was pretty bad at the plate the first 4-5 weeks of the season. It almost like that ankle sprain was the best thing to happen to him.

I have full confidence in Robert, I just don't expect him to start raking right out of the gate. I don't expect Timmay to hit .330 again, but he will not be a hole in the lineup. As for everyone else, yeah. This team is probably going to mash. These are good problems to have.

They might not. I think that if there is a key to the play-offs if will be the starting pitching which holds true for all contending teams.

YOu never know about any rookie. That is true. I think that he is a different type of hitter than Eloy and will hit for a higher average for his career.

Low average plus low walk rate equals average player. Doesn't matter how many hrs he hits. See Schwarber. And he has high walk rate.

From June-on he hit .287 with an .887 OPS.

he hit .328 last across three minor leagues and .297 as a 21 year old in AAA

So what does high average plus low walk rate plus defense at a premium position equal?

Babafuckhead was talking about Eloy who, as Hatchet pointed out, had a tremendous second half of the season.

Yes, a month he faced a lot of triple AAA pitching.

So you think that the American league Player of the Month of September and high vote getter for Rookie of the Year in the AL is an "average" player? Hilarious. Spoken like a true idiot Cub fan.

Based on what? Tim Anderson just won a batting title. Avi never approached his ability. You do not win a batting title without being a very good hitter. It's silly to compare him to Avi.

I am not directly comparing him to the player, I am saying look at Avi's 2017 season, and his 2018/2019 seasons. He came back down to reality.

Maybe but I doubt there will be a lot of regression. If he's injury free, I even expect his wOBA to be higher. His approach is really odd, but the man can square up a ball. And now that confidence is there, you'll will see the K rate go down and the BB rate go up. Lo Cain is STILL a good comp. He didn't hit his stride until 6 years in. He wouldn't take a walk either

What is reality as it pertains to Anderson? If you think he is going to return to where he was in 2018, I think that it is not logical. I'd say Tim Anderson will hit around .300+ for the remainder of his career and that his power numbers and OBP will improve.

So, he hit better than any other American league player did in September against that pitching. What happened to all of the rest of the AL hitters, dimwit?

Lets put it this way. Jimenez and Robert have a better future than any pair of Cubs hitters anywhere in their major league or minor league system. that goes without saying. Both will be many time all stars and conceivable MVP candidates.

Lets start with a winning record before we put both in Cooperstown.

What fun is that, conns. I have been one of the biggest White Sox critics and especially critical of Reinny for years. I've been pessimistic in virtually every off season in my memory. But starting last season with the play of most of these young players, I started to get excited yet still thought that somehow Reinny was going to continue to go cheap with my team. Instead.... this happened and I am F*ing psyched up :!:

Those two young guys have future stars written all over them barring injury. They are not going to fail of their own accord. :D :D :D
