Same with all the Sox prospects and young guys....it's scary.

I wonder which Sox team had better young guys, this team or the team in, say, 1989? That was so much fun, though Uncle Jerry did nothing for them.

We don't need to compare individual stats. The Sox immediate future appears to look FAR SUPERIOR to the Cubs immediate future. Let's just leave it at that. It will play out one way or another for all to see over the next few seasons.

One already has performed better at the MLB level in Year 1 than the guy you want to give $25M a year to because he got hot in the 2nd half of the season in a contract year.

That is right. I can't wait till the season starts. IF the pitching shows up especially with a planned addition of a couple of good relievers, this should be a fun ride with this team. It should be a really good competition with Cleveland which still has a good team and Minnesota which has a tough line-up The Sox are not going to run away with the division but the fact that they will be in the hunt is a long time coming. 8) 8)

Seems about right to me. It's year 3. The championship will be built around the young guys and the young guys are young.

The pitching staff is the big question. If they all got hot and throw lights out, this could be a 100 win team. If there are injuries and guys struggle, they could have an 80-82 record.

I'll take the over on 82. I'd probably take the under on 90. My guess is they end up at 87 or 88 wins.

Hard to argue with Vegas. I'd like to think they're capable of 86 wins, but Vegas sure knows more than we do.

With the pitching uncertainty and youth being predicted by Vegas to be 500 is fine. They can exceed that you know it is okay.

Castellanos isn't getting 25 million per and I never advocated for paying him that. I imagine he will end up reasonable in terms of money and years for a 28 year old guy. Arguing controlled versus free agent values is like apples and oranges.

Some of this has to do with Cleveland's decisions. Kluber pitched 35 innings last year. They won 93 games.

I agree, but Vegas doesn't set the line on actuals. The Sox have a shit ton of hype this off-season. Nationally, the moves they have made have been very positive. Sadly, I think Vegas puts that number thinking many would be tempted to bet the over based on their improvement.
.500 would be a good improvement. I'm hoping it's better and it very well could be....Twins and Indians do have something to say about that.

If you want to look at movement from money I would be really suprised many bet the Sox one way or another at all.

I would not bet with my money that all these young guys are going to sufficiently mature in 2020 to be a 90 win team. They may. The more likely scenario is what we saw with guys like Lopez and Eloy, fantastic moments and drubbings.

My guess is they start out hot, fade mid july and end hot in September finishing with about 85 wins

Yes, a month he faced a lot of triple AAA pitching.

All I care about is showing what they can be. They showed some of it last year and they will show more this year. And who knows where the baseball gods will throw their magic dust. Maybe it's on the Southside.

Reliever Steve Cishek and the Chicago White Sox are in agreement on a one-year, $6 million deal, sources familiar with the agreement tell ESPN. The contract includes an option that could take the deal to a second year at $12 million total.

Very meh.

But on the other hand, I would rather a proven guy like Chisek coming into a 1 run game in the 8th inning over Thyago Vieira and Caleb Frare.

Cishek is a quality vet. I would not trust him as my 8th inning guy, but still a good move. Sox continue to win the offseason but as most fans know, they've done that before and it is no guarantee of anything, but they certainly appear to be a contender in a weak division that is there for the taking.

Reynaldo Lopez (if Kopech is in the rotation)

Dylan Covey
Evan Marshall

Hopefully gone:
Jace Fry (7.04 BB/9)
Kelvin Herrera (6.14 ERA)
Carson Fulmer (6.59 BB/9)

Who else is a realistic in-house option? Maybe Zack Burdi at some point. Also Rodon when he comes back in August.
