Baez has put together 3 really good seasons in a row.

Moncada has 1.

So as of right now the answer is Baez.

Weird answer considering the question is who will be better next year, not who was better the last 3 years.

The answer becomes more clear when you compare their age 24 seasons and realize unlike Baez Moncada is still getting better.

It is not a "weird" answer at all. It is taking in all the facts of the situation.

Baez has a more proven record right now. Are you completely certain that Moncada is not a one hit wonder? I don't think he is, but in baseball you never know.

So as of right now I would take Baez in 2020.

would Baez even have a hope of playing in the Sox infield in 2021 with Moncada, Anderson, Magical and Vaughn locking down positions?

Honestly, if Timmy tightens up the D just a little bit HE is a better player than Baez.

Cub fans have had a cute, cuddly comfort pet my entire life. Baez currently holds that spot. He needs some signature move, like clicking heels or running to his position with an American flag or the team running a train on his wife, for Cub fans to start pushing for him for the HOF.

This is bad trolling even by your standards. Magical looks like he'll be an 80s style 2B. No power, low slugging. Johnny Ray vibe.

Baez is likely going to mean more to his team in 2020 because he has to be "the" guy. Yes he has Rizzo and Bryant, but the Sox lineup overall is going to be better. Some of Baez's numbers, like tagging, might be better but give the situation he is in, I'll take Moncada ten times out of ten. You're in denial and/or being foolish not to think the same way.

Baez at SS/2B for the Sox would look really nice though

True. They also always have a scapegoat, the one guy who is completely responsible for their terrible performance. Usually it's a black guy.

I remember when I was a kid playing in the Midway Baseball Little League what my dream was. It is so clear I can close my eyes and it is 1977 all over again. I had hoped to be the best tagger while having a lot of strikeouts ever.

White Sox math. Only numbers that matter are HRs, RBIs, and Ws for pitchers.

See, I'm not sure if you're intentionally dumb as rocks or it's just your 3rd morning cocktail.

2019 Moncada K% - 27.5%
2019 Baez K% - 27.8%

Baez's was slightly lower Moncada's the two years before that. They both strike out a lot dingus

Moncada has gotten a lot better at 3B. The defensive gap has closed tremendously. Overall Baez had a better WAR by 0.2 with Yoan having FAR SUPERIOR offensive numbers, as I will outline below.

The numbers (Avg, OPS, H, Grounded into Double Plays, BB, OB%, oWAR, oRAR) say otherwise as Moncada was higher in each category in 2019. And before you give me any meathead nonsense of "DURRRR JAVY MISSED DA LAST MONTH OF DA SEASON," understand that Baez actually played 6 more games in 2019 than Moncada did.

In those six extra games, Baez managed to hit 4 more HRs and drive in six more runs than Moncada. Even their power numbers were incredibly similar.

So are you in denial or being foolish, Kirkwood?

The gap in fielding is enormous. Moncada is not a butcher at 3B anymore. Yippee. Baez is an elite SS.
Baez may have slightly lower hitting counting stats due to not playing in G Cellular Stadium and not being a juicehead.

Total package you go Baez all day every day until further notice.

Now Moncada vs. Bryant I'll take Moncada mebbe.

this is subject to change. I like Moncada. We shall see how this goes.

Batting average? Really?
I couldn't find a stat for great tagging ability.

It's called Defense. Not that you have much of that on the Southside to know what it looks like.

GTFO out of here with this poll. 1 good year does not equal 1 MVP quality year and clutch hits and defense in a World Series run 2016!

It's a little early to be counting moncadas chickens. We have a pretty good idea what Baez is. Let's see where moncada is after a year with real expectations. That makes a difference I think. Cubs have been pressing since 2015. Sox have not. Playing relaxed makes a difference. Now the pressure is on the sox. I'll be more comfortable making the comparison then.

After a couple of lackluster seasons, I think Moncada was feeling a bit of pressure last year to perform.

Not the same thing. Individual expectations because you played poorly are one thing but the extra pressure of being expected to win every series is another.

Section does not seem to matter with him. If there is a thread about the Sox in any way, shape, or form, he finds his way into a lot of them. His posting history doesn't lie.
