Yup. Even in the Fox/Trestman eras with terrible teams, they had MANY primetime games.

no they didnt. Only when they played the Packers dumbshit.

Does anyone outside New England not either from NE or having lived in NE like the Patriots? Fuck that noise. You get the team in geographic proximity to where you became a sports fan/grew up. And then if you relocate after 10 years living somewhere else you can adopt a 2nd, red-headed step-child team from that area. I don't get people like Cousin Sal who spent his first 30 years of life in New York being Dallas Cowboy fans. New York has from 1 to 3 NFL teams any given season. Maybe if you're from Montana or other franchise-free location then you get carte blanche to pick any team.

Sounds like you’ve got a little Bernstein in you.

Not in the age of the blackout.

Bear games were routinely blacked out in my area.

RAIDERS!

I blame my uncle who helped raise me for my Packer fandom. Being a Bears fan would have been easier growing up outside of the constant losing

Sunday's game registered a national TV household rating of 19.2. That still trailed last year's Bears game, which secured a 22.9 overnight rating and an audience of 36.4 million. NBC said the Eagles-Bears broadcast was its highest-rated playoff game since 2006 and its top-rated Wild Card game in 25 years.

I getcha. There are Bears fans throughout the country, but that's because the people have Chicago roots. You don't have random people deciding "hmph, think I'll be a Bears fan" like you do with the Packers and Steelers, or, to keep it in town, the Cubs. I'd say they're on par with the Eagles in that respect: it's a big fanbase, but not a national one, per se.

Contrarian shitheads of the Mid-Atlantic adopting the Dallas Cowboys to screw with their Giants/Eagles/Redskins-loving friends and relatives is an interesting phenomenon. I think you used to see it with the Dolphins, too, but it's died down post-Marino.

I knew a Bears fan from alabama in the army. He said they always seemed like the toughest, hard nosed team in the league.

That could partially explain Cousin Sal and his group of New York based school friends being Cowboy fans. Unwavering in their support of the Cowboys. Sal named his kid after a Dallas QB and he's been calling for Jason Garrett's firing every week on Guess the Lines for a few years. I think they're also Mets fans; which is the contrarian position if you grew up in New York. Although the 80's Mets would've rooked many a newbie fan into their doomed fold.

Wouldn't that be the Raiders, at least reputationally. Recall sports writers back in the day calling them Hell's Angels in uniforms.

Nah he’s a similar age to me so the Raiders would decidedly not qualify. I’m 33 and they’ve never had a tough team in my lifetime. That Rich Gannon led squad was soft as play dough.

I don't see how there is anyway Cousins can make enough plays to put points up on this 49ers defense.

14-10 not a bad game. Ryan Pace will have to watch a GB Vikings NFC Championship game IMO

I can’t see how the Vikings win this game currently but I hope you are right.

Thielen just ran the softest, weakest route I’ve ever seen on that pick. Cousins should have every right to scream in his face on the sidelines now based on how Vikings interact with each other.

Vikings defense is so soft against the run.

Wow, I was so wrong. 49ers dominating with the run game and now up 14. Game over.

Who's that kicker for the 49ers? Very reliable.
