He isn't going to be able to run like that forever. Mahomes is the better passer, though Jackson is no slouch.

Vick is his closest historical comp and could run in his 30s still after serving time in prison. I don’t think you have to worry about Lamar’s running ability for almost another decade. And Lamar is a better passer than Vick was.

Your memory is failing you. Lamar showed more as a passer this year than vick ever did. Vick never led the league in passing TDs. Lamar did. Vick never led the league in passing TDs from the pocket. Lamar did. He did this with a group of skill position guys that nobody considered above average coming into the season.

Imagine what he would look like with Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins, and Mecole Hardeman to throw to.

I thought it would take an off season to come up with a plan to stop Lamar. Vrabel did it in a week.

Vick never had the privilege of playing in a system that utilized his skills the way that Jackson did. He could have led the league as well. Vick was a very good passer. I think that gets lost in a lot of these conversations.

Either way, I just don't think Jackson is going to hold up going forward. Mahomes is better at every part of the game aside from running.

First part of this post is 100% wrong. Vick did play in a system tailored to his strengths, both in Atlanta and Philly. And he never put up close to the passing numbers Lamar put up in just his 2nd year in the league. The could have comment is weak too, let’s talk about reality, not how many touchdowns Hypothetical Mike Vick could have thrown for if he was as good as Lamar Jackson is.

As I said no matter what the comp is with Vick....Mahomes is better at every part of the game aside from running. There is legit reason to believe that Jackson will not be able to keep up his style of play for the long haul. Mahomes is the choice

Vick played in a more physically demanding NFL. Jackson is protected. Jackson isn't better than peak Vick and may never be.

Not to take anything away from Vrabel but you can only implement that strategy if you have a lead. When it's 0-0 you've got to deal with him running. At 14-0 you've forced him to be a passer so then you can take away the TEs and make him throw outside the numbers.

But the question is a long term question -not who had better stats this year (which passing wise is very close between the two despite Mahomes being hurt part of the year).


That’s like me asking you this question between Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers a few years ago and you picking Ryan because he came off an MVP season -Rodgers is still clearly better now and all time than Ryan tho. Same applies to Mahomes and Jackson -Mahomes is a better QB than Jackson. And I don’t think that’s an opinion many would challenge.

Rodgers has been in the league a decade, won a ring, and won multiple MVPs at that point so that analogy is as awful as I expected.
