He really has no claim to fame. He has been floating around the NFL for several years with numerous teams doing random coordinator jobs. I don't think he has too much to offer us.

He's been promoted in nearly every job he's had.

You posted his resume and he clearly gets promoted. He's worked for Gibbs and Holmgren. He has more play calling experience than Nagy.

He gets promoted and demoted. He has gone from QB Coach, to OC, back to QB Coach, then back to OC. There is nothing special in his resume, and I highly doubt he is going to 100 percent take over the play calling.

This is reason enough to know that it is a complete shit hire.

He's got more experience calling plays than Nagy.

He's NEVER gotten demoted. He's changed jobs. He has more play calling experience than Nagy. The last OC had ZERO play calling experience at this level. The Holmgren tree is GREAT and Gibbs is a HoF coach. He's an upgrade from what we had before just based on NFL experience.

Semantics. Sorry, never been demoted, but has been FIRED from his last 2 consecutive Offensive Coordinator jobs with the Dolphins and Bengals.

Can't wait for 2021 when he gets fired and we finally find out a week before what he actually does for the bears

I'm happy with the hire for the simple fact that Nagy won't have another scapegoat when he sucks in 2020.

He won't be calling plays here so I'm not sure how that matters.

The Bears OC job is the least attractive OC job in the league.

If the offense does well, you will get zero credit. Captain Arena league will take it.

If it continues to fail you will be the scapegoat.

Interview process likely went something like this: Nagy-"Mitch is one of the great young QBs in out league, we were only able to draft him because I had the vision to move up in the draft, and ignore all the naysayers. Sure you could try to compare stats, but I outsmarted everyone by finding an unpolished gem, we just need an OC that can make sure Mitch and Matt are protected from the mean people that say bad things about them. Are you the man to do that?" Any candidate worth a damn-"I'm sorry, I thought I was interviewing for the OC job and not a babysitting job", as he get up and leaves Ted Phillips and Pace at the table while texting his agent "WTF is wrong with the people!".

I still don't understand why they need an offensive coordinator when Nagy is calling the plays. Seems like an easy way to indirectly blame someone else when things go wrong. This organization sucks.
