I think the season ticket sales are in trouble too. My place in line barely budged in six years, and most recently was around 40,000. Yet they’ve been calling and emailing recently saying I can buy tickets.

Then what is the Cubs identity right now? They are no longer an elite team. Their historic stadium has been redone and isn't all that special anymore. They have MANY players with terrible, untradeable contracts. They don't have a very good starting rotation. They have a completely unproven wild card at manager.

And when they won, they were no longer The Lovable losers.

You would also think they would have gone hyper local with a bunch of local homer type people instead of going with former players/managers and outsiders that don't have an understanding of the fandom. They appear to want to make baseball coverage even more clinical and boring, not sure if that fits what the typical casual Cub fans wants.

The problem with Marquee getting their asking price is that there is absolutely no buzz about the Cubs this winter and there is growing resentment from the hardcore fan over the lack of action this offseason. Marquee is either going to have to lower their asking price or allow the channel to be put on a higher tier and/or sports package. Look no further than the Altitude Network in Denver that air both the Nuggets and Avalanche. Comcast has not agreed with that channel and there looks to be no traction in the negotiations. Now I don’t know what kind of pressure Sinclair can apply so that is a wildcard there but I am pulling for Comcast on this one. Fuck Marquee and the Cubs!
