The only real issues I have with North are 1) his breaking up of the Monsters/HFC and 2) his change of station format to general topics in the morning. Both of these were addressed and was satisfied.

Nope. I have never thought you were ever "pissy" and not today. Now, some of the guys on this board? They live pissy. On that point, we agree. I understand how some of the nonsense here can wear a guy down.

You and North had the kind of conversation I'd expect you two would have sharing a beer in a saloon. You are a couple of passionate guys with a history. It came off quite natural to me....well, as natural as any conversation with Pappy can be. You each got in your shots and digs at the other. And yes, I'd agree with you that it was "compelling" radio. Thumbs up.

And you rightfully came across as the bigger and classier man. Well done, especially at the end of the interview.

I am "pissy" because it seems nothing pleases a good number of you. I don't need the so-called ALS to convene regularly. I don't need rose petals tossed at my feet. I would love, however, the incessant whining over minutae to disappear.... or at least be diminished greatly.

Since I began reading these forums more than three years ago, Mike's reluctance to talk sports, his insistence on dated entertainment diversions, his lack of willingness to take direction, have been perhaps the most consistent theme Those issues were addressed and there weren't softballs lobbed at him. I told him I didn't believe that he orchestrated the Score's overhaul (and susbquent death) in August of '99. I believe, if I had the court reporter read it back to me (another one, Coast) my exact words were "You wore out the carpeting in the hallway leading into Harvey Wells' office. Nobody walked on air more than you did when those changes were made."

I called him out for the billboards excuse. I said being the highest rated Score morning show ever is a tall midget award.

Conversely, Mike hammered me for breaking a contract at the Score. And for my history of suspensions. And for being from Indiana.

It was give and take and mix it up. That's what makes it compelling/ That's what's been missing from Mike's show and your thousands of posts over the past three years validate that opinion.

More phone calls. Silly. Sometimes this baord reminds me of the scene in "Cuckoo's Nest" when Cheswick is complaining about having his cigarettes rationed and Scanlon wants to know why the drom doors sometimes are locked on the weekend. The mental defective league.... in formation, as McMurphy said.

I know these comments were not directed at me so I will save space on the answer. I will simply refer you to my responses on the May 1 Meltdown thread.

I thought the interview was entertaining. It was great to see Northy put in the position he used to put his guests in. Anyone remeber the late Jack Kent Cooke saying to North "Are you the 55 miler?"

Keep the foot on the gas Mac. You pulled no punches; which made for a great couple of segments.

Coast, I think Mac was referring to Movie Line of the Week right there, as he also mentioned you when saying he doesnt need the court reporter to read it back to him.

This is a assumption, but I am pretty sure most of the Managment teams at the score were scared of Mike for some reason, but if a Mgt, team was in place that didnt take that type of crap, he would have been suspended plenty of times.

It was a good interview, but Pappy did come off poorly IMHO.

This take is right on. If he was at ESPN he would not have been suspended - he would have been FIRED for the shit that he's done.

I imagine the combination of ineptitude (Hayes) and contract language had something to do with it too.

Ahhh...thanks Favre Fan. Now that makes sense. I was sort of wondering why I was singled out. :?:  These old synapses are a little slow on the uptake. That ole Mac is a master of the movie line. Gotta get up awfully early to keep up with him

"I'll answer the question". That was Jessep.

"I can have the court reporter read back your..."That was Kaffee.

"I don't need it read it back to me like I'm a damn.." That was Jessep.

Mac could actually have used another line from that flick in addressing the pissy among us:
I'd prefer you just said thank you and went on your way.

i listened to most of it Mac, and i commend you on a job well done.

As for those who question why you did it, i can't imagine the number of emails and people who stop you in the street to ask you what is going on with the Hot Dog guy.

Thanks for all you do Mac!

even as an ardent B & B listener, I have to 14th or 15th the motion to keep it going for a full hour, as a full-on North blowup would have made for some very entertaining and unusual radio.

Unusual? Yes. Entertaining? No. Not to those who pull up a chair regularly at the Afternoon Saloon. To those who listened to North's show frequently, it would have been. MJH need to serve thier own customers first though, and they did the right thing. There is zero sense in them stooping down to Mike's (or some from this board's) level becuse there are people out there who want to grill North, or hear him meltdown on the air. That benefits MJH's show as much as the sun benefits a snowman in March. People tune in to MJH to NOT hear that kind of bullshit and I'm glad the Nort segment went the way it did, and did not go on a second longer.

Good Job Dan! I just heard the podcast. If you pushed any harder it would've been ugly. Besides, he would have gotten more attention and he loves that publicity good or bad.

Phone calls would have been nice but with commercials it would have taken away from what Danny wanted to ask.

Again Dan, good job.
