I could not care less who the Grand Marshall is, or the halftime band, or who sings the anthem, etc. I'll watch for racing action, that which NASCAR hasn't removed with their stages/playoffs. I'm not sure if the local racing scene decline has weakened the top level competition, the manufacturers and sponsors seem to throw endless money at it still. Football should take note of how quickly the racing sport has nearly vanished from our culture (directly linked to it's jump to cable-only race coverage IMHO).

I don't like many of the things the current President says, nor did I agree with much of the platform of the previous President, but at least I'm mature enough to ignore him without resorting to playground name-calling. To each his own.

NASCAR has barely publicized Trump being the Grand Marshall. It is not on their website this morning and was only listed among a number of headlines earlier this week which could easily be overlooked. It definitely was not promoted like it could have been.

I suspect Trump’s people contacted NASCAR and considering how many people hate him, NASCAR is not really happy about him going to the race. What are they going to do- tell him no? Even though the France family and the majority of owners politically align themselves with Trump, they have to realize how much of a turnoff his presence is for more than half the nation. At least this is my hope. Regardless, I won’t turn the race on till the cars are on the parade laps.
