And he has a nasty habit of turning the ball over at crunch time.

Nas, I've read your posts for 2 or 3 years before joining this board, so let me say that I think you're a pretty good NBA mind. However, Duhon is an awful point guard. the reason he looks good compared to Hinrich is because he is being compared to a hot/cold shooting, dribble happy very poor man's Vinny Del Negro. Duhon is an even streakier shooter than Hinrich. he is a good defender, but since when do you pay T.R. Dunn, etc. that kind of money?

nas, I'm saying that Duhon does look good and the offense runs smoother but that's because you're comparing him to Hinrich...of course Du comes out smelling like flowers...

There's no way Du should be making as much as Udrih and a bit less then Calderon. It's a stupid signing but its not a long deal. Im not saying Udrih is even all that good, but he certainly showed much more then Du has when given time last season.

I feel like I'm ragging on ya, Nas, but I'm a huge Duke fan, followed them for years and after Jason Williams left and Duhon was left to run the team, Duke suffered for it. and that was with a closer 3 point line, which Chris exploited in college. dumb passes, dumb shots, etc. I just don't get the move, and maybe we'll make a dinner bet it doesn't work out for the Knicks...but it'd have to be Mc.Donalds... :)

Biggest rumor I see now is that the 76ers are going to make Josh Smith a HUGE offer. Atlanta is expected to match.

I was listening to an ESPN Radio "SportsCenter" yesterday afternoon, and another Los Angeles Clipper free agent, Chicago's own Corey Maggette, is reportedly talking with Glenn "Doc" Rivers and the new NBA Champion Boston Celtics about a rumored deal that could pay him less money, but a chance to help the Celtics possibly repeat as NBA Champions. There's also rumors that the Bulls' Ben Gordon might not be long for this team, and a potential "sign-and-trade" guy. That's all I know...

Sounds like Philly is gonna try and make alot of noise in the next week or so, but I dont see them signing any marquee names. I like Memphis's idea of holding onto their money till next offseason, not that I trust Chris Wallace to spend that money wisely. I think Philly should extend reasonable offers to Deng and Josh Childress. Also its being reported that GS is lowballing Biedrins. I wouldnt give him the $50M he's asking for, but considering how young he is and how much he's been improving, he's probably worth more than the MLE.

Eh... too happy this summer. Not so sure about 2-3 years from now. Hopefully he "gets it" sometime in the next couple years.

The other rumor added to the 76ers is that they will also make a big offer to Atlanta's other Josh (Childress) in hopes that atlanta can match one.

I've heard he wont get offered more than the MLE by most teams. The 76ers would be dumb to go much higher than that. Is Billy King still secretly employed there?

I think Atlanta would let Childress go, given that he's a solid player, but not a starter, and I'm guessing Philly would way overpay for him to discourage Atlanta.

Childress is one of those problems where he's a good enough player to make solid and significant contributions but is not good enough to to lead a team and deserve a big contract. It's unfortunate. I'd love for the Hawks to keep him but at the same time I don't think they should overpay.

So he's Bobby Simmons, pre-injury?

Very decent analogy. Except Childress is cooler cuz he looks like an old ABA player.

That's what would help Bobby get back to that level - some hair!

I dont think he was a bad defender. I think Childress does more "little things" and is a better defender and rebounder, Simmons was definitely a better scorerer. I could be mis-remembering though. I think the Clips didnt make the playoffs till after he left so I didnt see as much of him before that.

Childress is Bowen like that he can cover the 2 through 4 (smaller 4's). Simmons is a 3/4 and can't play a 2 to save his life. His defense I would consider adequate but not as good as Childress but you are right, he's a better scorer.

That's a good summary of the 2; I agree.

I have the NBA ticket so I've seen my fair share of Hawks games and part of the reason the Hawks are the Hawks is bad draft picks like Childress. sure he's a good defender, but he's a nobody...people seem to be impressed by his defense from the Boston series but he lost more games for the Hawks then he won...imo...

That's ridiculous. And you do realize they picked Josh Smith later in that same draft, right?

In paging around rumor sites, here is what I found interesting

- Hornets want Posey and will offer the MLE to him to fill in at SG. Not sure I like this move for the Hornets, but it's there money.

- Spurs want Maggette and they look to be the favorite. They will offer the MLE.

- Brent Barry is apparently a hot commodity with the Suns and Rockets chasing him.

Why in the world would he be a hot commodity? Barry fits well with the style and players in San Antonio, but I dont think he would do well in either Phoenix or Houston.
