Plus, Andy Dalton will most likely restructure his contract to get out of Cincy.

The Bengals went 2-11 last year with Dalton as the starter and have won 20 games in the past 4 seasons with him as the starter. He had AJ Green for all of that time. Does your hate of (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky really trick you into believing that Dalton is even competent?

Agreed. I am still just wondering about all this QB signing talk and what exactly it will mean. Pace and Nagy have already fully committed themselves to (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky for this year, so I am trying to figure out what the chances are that a newly signed veteran QB actually plays or makes starts this year. Is it just to push (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky? Is it just to give him a shorter leash? Or is there actually a chance Mitch starts the year on the bench?

I'm not a huge Dalton fan, he's an upgrade over Mitch though.

I want to draft Hurts in the second and Hopkins in the second. Hurts can take Mitch's job.

AJ Green missed all of the 2019 season, only played 9 games in 2018 and 10 games in 2016. He missed 29 games in the last 4 seasons.

He missed 13 of Dalton's starts last year and 8 the previous 3 seasons. That is a total of 21 starts. Remove last year from the equation and Dalton still only won 18 games the previous 3 years. He's even had good running backs.

Guess who had a better rating last year?

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky would be very lucky to have Dalton's career. And he probably will be an even more forgettable player than Dalton.

He's been better the past 2 years. You hate (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky so much that you are willing to trade draft capital and pay Dalton $20M even though he objectively hasn't been better in 2 years.

Anyone that thinks that Dalton is an answer to any question that the Bears have is football stupid.

Would he be a better backup option than Chase Daniel, do we need to bring up the fact that this same group thought Mike Glennon was an answer?

In fairness to Nagy he never had any input on Glennon or Mitch.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky doesn't stand a chance of having Dalton's career.

Sure he would be a better back up option than Daniel. But with his contract situation there is no way they are bringing him in to just be a backup.

So no thank you. No reason to give up any draft picks for that ginger bum.

I never said to trade for Dalton. I'm saying (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky won't equal Dalton's numbers over his career, as mediocre as he is.

I don't like Andy, I mean Mitch won't have the career starts A.D. has . Mitch is a backup after this season..he may be benched this season..then he's done, he'll gang around for 6 more years on the bench.

If we're talking about bringing in free agent Dalton and paying him about $7M to compete then I'm also cool with that.

If I were the Chargers, I'd give Dalton a chance and still in his "prime" whatever that means.

I might consider that also but it is meaningless what they do at quarterback unless they do a complete over-haul of the offensive line and tight end. What do you think they should do with the draft and free agency. They really do not have a lot of money nor draft picks to take care of everything that they really need as far as I am concerned.

Letting Floyd walk, cutting Trevathan, resigning A-Rob and a few other minor moves could create about $60M in cap space. The Bears can always restructure Mack's deal again to get a few more dollars.

I'm all in on Austin Hooper. Pay him whatever it takes to make him a Bear. Sign a WR who can stretch the field and has big play ability. Preferably someone who is at least 6 feet. Then I would find a quality guard and starting SS in free agency. I would look for a veteran pass rusher to replace Floyd and resign Kwiatkowski.

In the draft I would use my first 2 picks on offensive linemen. I would draft a QB with the 4th round compensatory pick. I would draft a running back with elite speed and hands with one of my final picks

Letting Trevathan walk would be a smart move. We have no need for him. He is useful, at times, when he is healthy, but he is definitely not an asset.

There seems to be more rumors about Dalton ending up in New England than here. This carousel of free agent QBs rumors is crazier this off season more than ever. Every team that has any remote need for a QB has multiple rumors about Carr, Dalton, Flacco, Prescott, etc.

Right now all "sources" point to Jameis Winston being the most "logical" fit. This Bears QB rumor mill will never stop until someone is signed. Every free agent QB in the league is linked to us. I am less concerned about who we sign, as opposed to why. To push Trubuisky? To back him up? Or to actually come here and start for us from day 1 if he wins the spot in TC. I think we would have a better idea if we knew there was actually a chance that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky won't be starting for us this year.

Seeing Carr rumors again this morning. A move for a young QB with starting experience likely means the end for Mitch in Chicago because they wouldn't commit dollars and draft capital to a guy they don't think is an upgrade at QB1. Whatever decision they make at QB will be franchise altering because if they get it wrong it likely means Pace or Nagy is gone and you can hit the franchise restart button yet again meaning another 3-5 years of suckage.

Can we afford Carr and a TE like Hooper?

If you don't trade for Carr he should be affordable. Trading for him is stupid.

At this point I am undecided at what good trading for ANY QB would do under Nagy.
