Philly looks pretty tough with Brand and Iguodala as the team's best players, and that a good, solid point guard in Andre Miller.

I bet Baron Davis is pissed. Why would he take a pay cut to play for the clippers if Brand wasn't going to stay, too?

ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports that Elton Brand has agreed to a 5 year, $82 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, while Chicago's own Corey Maggette has decided to play basketball next season with the Golden State Warriors instead of the NBA Champion Boston Celtics. Terms not disclosed, but Golden State also reportedly offered Elton an even bigger deal than he would've received with the L.A. Clippers.

Maggette is headed to the Warriors - 5/50

Thaddeus Young was a very good rookie, and Sam Dalembert emerged in the second half of the season as one of the best Centers in the league. Any word yet on if they kept Louis Williams? He also showed alot of promise.

Every article written on the East contending sixers has him as the sixth man so I guess WIlliams is in the fold.

Shocking that Brand decides to leave the Clippers after they sign Baron Davis. From what I understand, they were offering him a max deal, correct?

GS overpays for Maggette big time, they need to trade for another guard still to help in the backcourt. This is one of the teams that I could see Hinrich or Gordon going.

As far as I know they still have Williams. They had to trade Rodney Carney in order to open up the cap space...that's a bit of a shame to let that kid go, I liked watching his progress.

But don't get me wrong here...waking up this morning and reading that Brand is a Sixer made me smile for sure. For once in an off season, I can look FORWARD to the upcoming year for the Sixers.

Cubs get Harden. Sixers get Brand. Not a bad way to start the week off.

I bet the Clippers and Baron Davis are so pissed at Brand, screwed them both over.

James Jones signs a 5 year deal with the Heat that starts out at $4M the first year and could be worth up to $23M over the course of the deal. Definitely overpaid.

I'm not sure how you figure that; after all he did opt out and become an unrestricted free agent so everyone knew the possibilities. And if you take that tact (not that I do) then Baron screwed over the Warriors, so you get what you deserve

You are referring to Carlos Boozer, who said he was going to sign a lucrative extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers a few years ago, only to sign a huge deal with the Utah Jazz instead.

He wasn't a free agent, but Bogut was extended today. 5 years, $72.5M. Wow.

I dont understand why alot of people are pissed at Brand and alot of people are saying hes only in it for the money. He turned down $20M more from Golden State. He went to a team with a pretty good core and has a better chance to win in the East.

it may be becuase it's Brand, and he's viewed as an honest and straightforward guy...you have to admit that it seems disengenuous to ask your team to go out and get Baron and then leave...I'm not questioning his intelligence on the decision, mind you...

I think thats alot of media speculation. I dont think Brand ever said he would resign. He said he had the intention of resigning. It's not the same thing. Like Bagels said, its not like the Clippers and everyone else didnt think this was a possibility.

Andrew Bogut will sign a 5 year 72M extension today or tomorrow.

14 million for Bogut? I guess he could be the next Kaman, averaged 14 and almost 10 boards a game last year. But 14 million?

it just goes to show how in demand big men are, even big men who should be playing power forward...if Bogut gets 14 mil, Charlie Villanueva should get 13.5....

Well that most likely establishes the market for Okafor to some degree. They are very similar players, with Bogut probably being a bit better and having a better injury history.
