The Floyd decision is key, do they cut him and use the $13 million in cap space to sign a big money FA and if they do how to they fill the OLB position opposite Mack, FA or with one of the second round picks? At this point is does not look like Floyd will ever develop an inside power move, that is unless he gets on the Hulk Hogan say your prayers and take your vitamins workout regime, to counter his outside speed rush.

I am a Floyd fan and even I have to take a step back when I see that number. It seems like double his value on the open market. He will definitely get offers but I don't think he will be looked at as a guy who helps to solve your pass rush.

Cut Floyd and get me Robert Quinn fro 8 AAV and I think that is a net improvement on the rush for less money. Heck, you can even aim lower and get Bruce Irvin for 3-4 AAV as a pass rusher and still get better pressure.

but I am of the opinion that Floyd does contribute more than his stats say. Still those contributions aren't worth 13 million

If he signs elsewhere would we get a compensatory pick next year? Likely no way you could trade him and get a fourth round pick due to his high cap number, it would make more sense to let him sign elsewhere and use his cap money to bring in another OLB that can bring consistent pressure opposite Mack.

Probably just reworked the money to lower his cap hit. Kwiatkowski likely priced himself out of the Bears plans.

3 years means more guaranteed money so that cap hits coming plus some. And he can barely play anymore. Very amusing extension

It doesn't mean more guaranteed money. His $8M cap hit this year was likely lowered. His play has NEVER been an issue. Staying healthy is the problem.

It absolutely means more guaranteed money. What do you mean it doesn’t? Name the last 3 year extension a veteran LB signed that didn’t contain new guaranteed money. I’ll wait.

Also amused at the his play comment. He wasn’t any good last year.

Any guaranteed money will likely be his cap hit for this year that would be spread out. He had very little leverage and this allows him to save face.

He was fine before his injury. He's the heart and soul of the defense.

He’s trash. This was a good move for the Packers, Vikings, and Lions.

Your player opinions have been shit recently. He'll probably be an all pro player next season.

He’s gonna be out of league in 2 years and the backup FA you now can’t sign is already a better player. Great extension tho, I’m a fan

I think it will be a good off-season for the RAIDERS, if they avoid signing any LBs from the Bears.

Interesting move, says a lot about the expected market for Kwiatkowski and the lack of depth on the roster at ILB. What once looked like a promising position group took a step backward last year with Smith's issues. They have to hope Hicks comes back at full strength because the ILB groups was exposed when he was out and they almost tapped out in the Raiders game.

I hate this move, this was the perfect time to move on from Trevathan. He's 30, misses 5 games a year as a bear.

Not real excited about this. Signing a 30 year old player with injury history isn't usually a good idea.

It's a 1 year "prove it" deal that frees up cap space for the Bears and gives them a little insurance if/when Kwiatkowski walks.

I was prepared for and expecting Trevathan to be gone this season. This signing is a little surprising.

He was not trash when he played but that is 18 games missed in 4 years with the team. In fact, he was a difference maker when he played and a team leader. Signing him guarantees that you lose Kwitkowski, as he is going to look to be a starter. However, you must sign a pretty decent backup because you can't expect Trevathan to play 16 games.

Odd signing so early especially because the money seems significant.

Could Kwiatkowski really have gotten that expensive? The guy showed for the first time in four years and I'm still not sold on him in pass coverage. I like to keep guys we drafted and developed.

Kwiatkowski isn't worth what he's about to get paid, I'm guessing. This is functionally a one year deal.
