It just comes down to who's the best available QB you can get under center. If Winston is out there then he's simply better. That says more about (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky than it does about Winston. Both options are not ideal but Winston sucks less than (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. I like QBs who understand the basic concept of a forward pass.

Objectively looking at actual data says that you are wrong when it comes to Bridgewater, Dalton and Winston.

Data and (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky don't mix well. I'd avoid that route if I were you. Stick to your "he had some great drives in the second quarter against Dallas" talking point.

It looks worse when you are discussing Bridgewater, Dalton and Winston.

If it is Winston, it has to be on a one year guaranteed and one year team option. He's better than Chase Daniel and Tyler Bray. He will probably get killed when Leno totally misses a block in Week 4 or 5, and then we will have Mitch again for the rest of the year.

The lasik may help him.

I thought for sure this guy would be a stud. He's a great player from the neck down.

Jameis Winston does seem like a fit. He will be cheap. They don't want to give up on Mitch, but Winston provides competition.

You think Winston wants to come here as the back-up to (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky?

I don't think he has many options, and I don't think he would be afraid of competing to beat out (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. Jameis is a big arm who kills you with interceptions. Mitch is a great athlete who kills you with confusion and jitters. Should be fun.

Also, this guy says Floyd to the Giants.

IIRC, the Giants were the only other team interested in him that high in the draft. I think the Bears were worried they were going to take him.

As long as they're willing to consider Winston at having a legitimate chance at being the starter, and not just being pegged as Mitch's back-up from day 1, I would be fine with that signing.

All reports were that the Giants WERE going to take them but the Bears jumped them.

No, the Giants were not the ONLY team interested in him.

I don't see a megalomaniac like Winston being a very good backup nor signing with a team with the understanding that he will be one

winston is the starter if he signs. the only way he becomes a backup to mitchell is if winston's lasik did not fix his problem of throwing passes to opposing LB's.... he also might struggle if both of his tackles are unable to passblock.

That was my thought, but several other people seem to think that he is really out of options and will have no choice.

I disagree. I think he has a strong chance at being the starter if he signs, but would have to legitimately beat out (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky in training camp. No way he is the assumed starter from day 1.

If the Bears ran a run heavy offense like Baltimore I think it would work well enough to at least win the division. The defense will rebound in 2020. The Quinn signing is what they needed. The pass rush makes everything else work. I just have zero confidence in Nagy doing anything other than being cute with the offense though. He's not here to run the I formation. It just worked every time they tried it.

Looking like it's down to Dalton or Foles, bringing in either one forces a reach in the draft at QB because they are one or two year fixes at best, if Mitch is still here he's likely holding a clipboard by the second half of the season is not earlier.

He isn't a bust, but he certainly did not live up to his potential and was a disappointing player overall. Not a good 1st round pick at all.

do not trade for one of these old QBs. Just let the market do it's thing and draft one at #43 or #50.

The other thing they need is a SS type to move Jackson back to a true FS. There are guys out there. In the draft, I'm really intrigued by SIU safety Jeremy Chinn. He had a big Combine at 6'3" and 212.

Agreed.

He is exactly the player they drafted. Unfortunately he was billed as a pass rusher but he never was.
