It's actually quite objective. Too bad you guys don't appreciate nuance. Have fun being mesmerized by a guy's high passer rating because the RB he threw it to on a screen ran through an entire defense for the score.

You can be honest. Winston has a terrible interception rate and a low completion rate meaning you were unlikely to win that bet unless he sweeps the other three categories.

You trade a 4th round pick for a guy who can now walk after a year if by some miracle he is actually good.

I am the most honest person on the board. I don't deny things that are self-evident like you tend to do to "win" an argument. I concede stuff all the time.

Here's what's also honest: "passing yards" is meaningless without looking at the entirety of the game. So, honestly, if Truisky threw for 500 yards in a 10-30 loss, and Winston or Dalton threw for 250 in a 21-7 win, you would "win" the bet for that game, but, honestly, did you?

Let's see how "honest" your response will be.

I hate to break it to you, but who led the league in yards per game last year? Jameis Winston. I was basically giving you a free win with average yards per game.

So wait, if Foles is really good he can just walk? The Bears take on this mammoth commitment and dont even get the reap the benefits if by some miracle it pays off?

And they gave up a draft pick?

I have to be missing something.

It can be meaningless though. I'm interested in who is the better QB when it comes to meaningful metrics. PFF breaks it downs and figures out what is meaningful (game winning drives) vs what is not (garbage time).

So why hasn't what the Bears gained by restructuring been released?

Gained? Instead of not having any guaranteed money and essentially being a 1 year deal, Foles has guaranteed money and an option to void the contract. That's good for the Bears, right?

Ok. Take out yards per game. The other 4 are meaningful metrics.

There is a decent cynical argument to be made that Pace did this spite whoever takes his job next year.

I still do not like this move.

But the positive part is that the Bears are sending a message to Mitch that he better step up his game or he will be QB2.

Best case scenario is mitch gets better and we have a really solid back up QB in Foles.

I have little to no confidence in that happening. But maybe we will be surprised.

At least it is not Andy Dalton.

The thing about Dalton is he doesn't come with $21m guaranteed. This destroys the Bears cap.

What's not to like? We have a Super Bowl MVP quarterback who restructured his contract so he could play for the Bears. He knows the offense and he's not afraid to compete. With the addition of Graham, I believe this could be a 14 win season.
