i think i read that he was chosen because he was the highest rated relief pitcher not yet on the team, as voted for on the ballot submitted by players.

The last few weeks he's been pretty bad, but before then he was doing a goo job. I just hope he's not put into the game. Hopefully Lou stands in front of him the whole game, so the manager doesn't see him and decide to put him in.

It seems a curious choice, given his performances the past couple weeks. But if you examine his first half totals, it makes some sense. Plus, it might help to restore some confidence in him, just to be on the all-star team. I would hope he does not pitch, to give him some needed rest. They need him to get back to the form he showed in April through mid June.
