I was at Jewels yesterday They have implemented one way aisles with arrows. Not a bad idea IMO. 80℅ didn't follow the rules. Most were wearing masks.

If you truly wanted things to get back to normal you would. It's clear you just want to complain though.

Here is a little secret.. Unless it's an N95, the virus is so small it passes through the fabric with ease.

Sounds pretty bad. Maybe we should instead limit contact.

Everyone walking around in masks is not "normal". It's just one more thing that doesn't seem like it was thought out at all. And you know it wasn't because less than a month ago the direction was not to wear a mask. It's like someone thought, "Hey, if people wear ineffective masks at least the idiots will have peace of mind if someone coughs or sneezes." But nobody thought at all about how much a masked society exacerbates crime.

I don't really think our viewpoints on this crisis are as far apart as it may seem when we're discussing it. I've bought and broken a lot of yearlings. We have a saying in the horse racing business- "If you don't wait on that colt, he'll make you wait on him." And the same thing may be true of this virus.

I'm not suggesting that a lockdown didn't help or even that it wasn't necessary. But I do think the way it was enacted was a knee-jerk reaction instead of the way it should have occurred with careful consideration of all the potential issues and unintended consequences.

And I think our leaders are addressing the wrong problem now. The virus is what it is. We are limited in what we can do to stop or control it and it seems we are doing all that we can. There needs to be a whole lot more focus on the problem of what this is doing to the economy which isn't just the stock market.

Our country and the way we live is in real jeopardy and people don't seem very concerned about it. There's seems to be an attitude that nothing so drastic could ever happen here, happen to me. That's because things have been good for so long.

People are really stupid. They think wearing a cloth mask stops a tiny little virus. It's like wearing a colander on your head to stop the rain.

It's more like a bike helmet.

Where is the science to support that contention? Even the 95% masks can't stop the virus. It's so small it falls under the other 5%. If you think a scarf or bandanna can stop it, you're just mistaken. Everyone walking around in homemade masks is nothing more than kabuki theater.

Just wear the fucking thing. This ain't the hill to die on. It's one more thing the Karens to point to and say "Aha. That rotten apple is spoiling the whole bushel"

If I’m wearing an N95 and you’re wearing an N95 that would block 99.8%.

First the surgeon General said masks are not effective in preventing transmitting the virus (except for doctors and nurses for them it was necessary) and actually told us to STOP BUYING MASKS.
Now a month later I guess Dr. Jerome Lisper Adams is making videos on how to turn your NKOTB bandana into a very effective tool against transmitting virus and good taste.
Should I be listening to the Surgeon General or the Surgeon General?

I recall it being a big push to educate people, especially when Magic got HIV that the virus could even pass through the fibers of a latex condom. I'm simply amazed that people think a basic face covering can stop the passage in and/or out of this virus.

What you are doing is sweating the small stuff. If playing along with something that doesn't affect you in any substansive manner, you go along with it. You're married, right?

 Yeah, I'm married.

You and I have been mostly in agreement on this subject. I guess we depart right here because I don't consider being ordered to wrap my face by the government "small stuff". And I'm not a Libertarian. I do believe in the concept of the collective. If wearing masks actually solved a problem I would be on board. But it's just empty virtue-signalling or false comfort and I'm not sure which is worse.

Funny how Bernstein addresses his tweet to those already agreeing to wear a mask. If he had balls, he'd say "Note to idiot Chicagoans: wear the fucking mask, period." But he knows he'd get way more backlash.

The first time I saw Dr. Adams interviewed on TV several weeks ago he seemed so nervous you could tell he had a massive case of dry mouth and he practically looked like he was going to cry. I have seen him once or twice since then and while he doesn't seem as nervous as he did that first time I saw him he still looks very uncomfortable on camera.

The mask is meant to protect others from you, according to medical experts, but I do think it can help protect yourself as well, assuming you're not touching it with your hands and it covers your mouth and nose. You can still be infected through your eyes, and by touching the mask with your hands though.

I don't think the CDC liked the idea of recommending it because it could encourage people to not socially distance and/or go outside more often. [/color]

Yay! Social engineering thru dishonest government medical advice!

The CDC themselves said the mask did nothing literally three weeks ago. Now we're all supposed to wear them? How fucking stupid are people? Seriously. You have to be unfathomably dumb to just accept this complete about-face.

Wearing a mask just increases the number of times you could possibly touch your face/mouth after touching a public door knob etc....

Because I'm aware of just how small the virus is and additionally, I've heard more than one expert state that even the very best 95% masks aren't effective in stopping it. Of course, for medical professionals who are in close and constant contact with the disease it's better than nothing (plus masks prevent other germs). Still, we see medical professionals contracting the virus at a much higher rate than the general public.

Mandating masks for the public is just another empty "do something" gesture like preventing a family from barbecuing in their own backyard. It's faith rather than science.

One of my favorite scenes in Baby Driver is when Jamie Foxx tells Flea to pick up three Michael Meyers masks and he gets Austin Powers masks.
