There was a game early last season, maybe even week 1, where Hebert had a chance to lead his team on a game wining drive. He threw the ball away on 4th down and that was that. You can't make that kind of mistake....ever.

Do they take a shot at a developmental QB late in the draft this year? Unless Mitch somehow has a magical career resurrection they are likely going QB with 1st round pick next year. It would seem they almost have to go OT with one of the second round picks. Still think trading down with one of the second rounders, maybe switching spots with a team drafting late in the second round in exchange for a third or fourth round pick makes a lot of sense given all the roster holes, but Pace is more likely to use next years draft capital to move up.

I would laugh my fucking ass off if the Bears somehow traded up high enough to draft Herbert.

Exactly why them going quarterback this year is all the more likely. If they recognize the need and have a guy they like now...why wait? If there's one thing we can agree that Pace has a tendancy to do, its to make aggressive (if not reckless) trades to not miss out on a player.

Give up 2.43 and the 2021 first and get a mid-round 2020 first rounder? Then draft Chase Claypool or whoever with 2.50. That's what I do if I'm Ryan Pace in this situation. The team sucks, he blew it in free agency and he has to know it. The odds them winning more than half their games are very slim, nearly impossible unless the division totally implodes.

But if Justin Herbert or Jordan Love starts seven or so games and looks great Pace and probably Nagy get another year. It certainly feels more likely that he'll draft a guy who can look like Daniel Jones than he'll somehow do enough to get this abysmal roster to the playoffs.

Herbert is a bum who couldn’t win big games.

No thanks.

Fact is we dont know whats going to to happen with regards to Miami. San Diego seems fairly intent on going quarterback, but we dont know who.

If Miami decides they are happy with taking Love later in the draft and San Diego prefers Tua then Herbert will almost certainly slide.

On the other hand its not impossible Rivera knows what he has in Haskins and takes Herbert 1.2. Big range of possibilities here, though I really cannot imagine Herbert will slide to 1.15 without someone trading future assets to go up and get him.

Off the top of your name some big games that Aaron Rodgers or Pat Mahomes won in college.

Herbert's the guy I prefer but I suspect they are more interested in Love. Just a gut feeling.

None

If you’re going to compare Herbert to a couple of all time greats I’m going to guess you didn’t watch much Oregon football the last couple years .

No one has any idea about any of these QBs. Herbert looks the part and has a ton of tools. But who the hell knows? I would prefer they not go giving away more draft capital to gamble on someone no one has any clue about. If a QB is there when you draft and you want to risk it then fine, but enough trading up.

Looks the part and has the tools is what gets GMs fired.

I remember watching lebatard show back in November and they were saying there has never been a great QB who is 6’6”.

6’5” seemed to be where a lot of good QBs measured at.

Weird stat.

Herbert is 6’6”.

I open up twitter after looking at this thread and a buddy of mine who is a dolphin fan posted this analysis.

Quote:
The NFL Draft is next Thursday and my team is desperate for a QB. I’ve been thinking about the QB situation. So, here is my assessment of the potential 1st Rd QB crop; I think Utah State’s Jordan Love will be a starter, and a good pro. Oregon’s Justin Herbert will be forgotten as someone’s backup for a few years. LSU’s Burrow will be a bust. And... wait for it.... Bama’s Tua Tagovailoa will be a generational talent, and have a HOF career

So now you know

I feel bad for Tua.

He would still be the clear cut number 1 if he didn’t play for Alabama.

I don't know, that test score of 13 would really worry me. How can you learn a NFL playbook and score that low?

Looks the part? He misses wide open receivers more than Mitch and Josh Allen combined.

He prolly never went to school.

I honestly hadn’t heard that.

Lamar Jackson had a 13 and Dan Marino had a 16. It doesn’t matter, at all.

I meant from a physical stand point. Height. Looks.

No doubt he has struggled at times.

Marino had a 16? Ok fuck that then. Tua is back on my board

Aside from Mahomes there hasn't been an arm as good as Herberts in a long, long time.

Josh Allen can throw it farther than Herbert. Herbert’s arm comes along literally every year and it’s usually attached to a total bust.
