You win by having a great QB and defense. Enough with the RB garbage.

Fournette available. Could probably get him for practically nothing, like a conditional sixth or seventh.

This is a under-the-radar big weakness on this club. Cohen is a good player, properly utilized can be a match-up nightmare. But there is one issue: he isn't a runningback.

And I'm sorry but cement feet Montgomery may be able to carve out a niche as a grinder but he is nowhere near being enough to replace what Jordan Howard brought.

It's Montgomery's job. That's pretty much it. Have to hope that they can add some competition for the OL - I would be surprised, should they keep both 2nd rounders, if they don't take one OL there, probably an interior OL. They will probably draft someone late or add an undrafted free agent at RB, but Montgomery will get 75% of the carries next season, assuming health.

His contract would be a problem. Who is going to take that on? Bears wouldn't be interested.

Yeah their running game carried them, but on the flip side, Tannehill and Garrapolo are also better than any QB we have to offer.

Meh.

He was up and down in 2018 but in 2019 he had a good year.

His contract? He’s in the last year of his rookie deal.

Here are the exact details if anyone cares:

4 year, $27,150,842 contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, including a $17,886,067 signing bonus, $27,150,842 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $6,787,711. In 2020, Fournette will earn a base salary of $4,167,388, while carrying a cap hit of $8,638,907 and a dead cap value of $4,471,519.

Can't see him fitting in here, but likely Bears do pick up a vet RB, just will be a much cheaper option.

I would be happy if we brought in a guy like Carlos Hyde.

You have to give Montgomery a longer look.

As i said before, it was crazy to let Kerrith Whyte go instead of Ryan Nall. The guy was a nice bridge in terms of size and speed between Cohen and Montgomery and could stick with a team as a third RB because of proven ST production.

I think they chose Nall over Whyte based on a weak preseason performance. It was a very small sample in the preseason, but Nall definitely looked better in the passing game than Whyte. Nall is bigger, has better receiving skills and pass blocking skills. I think keeping Nall was the right choice.

If a guy like Wisconsin’s Taylor slides.. I’m down with that. But it has to be a really good day 1 starting RB type or you’re wasting those 2nd’s imo.

QB is the only developmental position the Bears should use either of those picks on if they decide to go that route. Otherwise, day 1 starters. And that shouldn’t be hard to find for this team considering their needs.

While it would be indulgent, I would not lose my shit if the Bear took Dobbins or Taylor. Some liked Cam Akers better than either.

If they trade down I think its so they can draft a runningback. I dont see Swift, Dobbins and Taylor all being taken this round.
