I’m just done trading up. I’m happy to trade for a player like Mack but enough of trading up

I'm absolutely with you. Ryan Pace went from being a good GM to all-but-fired and I really do believe its because he expended his supply of mid-round picks for other ends.

I was simply wrong about the damage wrought by the (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky trade. It killed them, and then to not even get a good player. Its rough, I actually give Pace a pass on missing on quarterback because that's so hard to do...but I just cant jive with his grand strategy anymore. Individual busts like Shaheen, Mitch, Mike Davis, etc....that's one thing. But to just have a flawed methodology and misplaced priorities? Cant abide it.

Find me a defensive position that is a weakness. I think you are wrong about trvathan

Think you’re wrong about Trevathan. Think he’s pretty cooked. Agree with the rest. Defense should be really good if Mack is in “game shape”

I dont think they upgraded a single position this year aside from quarterback. I really do believe they got worse at every position where there isnt a new starter and a year older everywhere else.

Why not take Chinn if they just had to go defense?

Don’t like the pick. I like Sternberger but it’s fine I guess

The Packers took the better tight end.

I saw it as more insulting than that. I don't know how he can respect his GM and coach anymore.

Don’t give a fuck. Doesn’t matter because his contract is untradeable and he’s the QB the next two years for us

KMET 94.7 was the radio station I listened to most as a kid in SoCal. I'm sure I heard Iron Maiden and Metallica for the first time on there. Sadly it turned into a jazz station around 1990 or so...

He'll probably be fine...not spectacular but ok. It sounds like he hasn't played tight-end for very long so his blocking is still a work in progress. If he turns into a good blocker (which will be a huge plus with those tackles) and can get a few 1st downs a game then he'll be useful at least.

Johnson was saying he was going to the Raiders so I looked at quite a bit of film on him and thought he looked pretty good. There was zero consensus this year among the experts on who the best corners were so we won't really know for a year or two. His shoulder was a big concern for me after what we went thru with Abram.

Simms talked me off the ledge with Kmet, but Johnson is still a bad pick. Its not the right year to be taking guys who are damaged goods.

Kmet will need to put on at least twenty pounds though. He's going to need to be a workaholic. I dont know anything about his makeup really, the Bears probably dont either, but if he doesn't posses Kittle's type of drive and determination to get better every day he's not really going to wind up being rosterable.

Right now he's just not NFL quality at all. NFL defenders will abuse him if he tries to pull the same moves on them that he pulls on guys from Boston College or Stanford. Now if he puts on twenty pounds of muscle? And keeps the speed? Then he's intriguing, but make no mistake this is no less a project pick than Adam Shaheen was.

He was 262 at the combine.

You want him to play TE at 282lbs?

There's no way he weighed that much when he was playing. He was getting body checked by DB's all the time, he definitely didn't capitalize on guys who didn't wrap him up. And if he was that big then I have serious doubts about his balance.

Take a look at Chase Young, who is 6'5 265 too. Totally different bodies. Sometimes the numbers do lie, Cole must've drank three gallons of water before getting on the scale at the combine.

But if he can bulk up and not get slow he's got a shot. My issues watching all have to do with him bullying guys with his frame and not bullying guys with his strength. In the NFL he's gonna need both.

Start around 2:15. It's taking 3,4,5 guys to bring him down and he's still moving forward.

He still doesn't look his listed weight in any of that.

For reference, this is what I kinda wish Kmet looked like if we were gonna draft him this highly.

In those two vids, you can tell Kmet is definitely bigger than Kittle. Not sure what you're smokin' that you dont see that.

Could have traded down, picked up a few slots in 2nd, still got Kmet, and picked up a 3rd/4th rounder. Feared that Pace would reach for a need pick and he did, CB pick looks solid, a guy with first round grade that slid due to injuries, but there was an opportunity to pick up draft capital. One of the 5th round picks must be a developmental QB, it would be GM malpractice to go into next year without a future QB prospect on the roster.

Pace has never been a ‘good’ GM. He’s been mediocre at best, he’s in over his head every draft he’s been here for and makes moves like a guy who doesn’t have a plan.
