I know what you're saying ... wtf is he on?

Without any ado, click below and you'll see an ABC Sports promo of some length throughout which, in the background, is the Star Trek alternate music that became the main theme for STTNG. It's rather slowed down, but there's no two ways about it, that's what's playing.

1982 was Wrath of Khan ... but I don't know that that explains the music choice, particularly as I don't believe they used that music at the start nor at the end of that film.

I need this explained. Doc ??

Yes, that is clearly the theme to TNG. It is also the theme to Star Trek: The Motion Picture theatrical film from 1979.

The more important question is why are you watching 3-1/2 hours into the 1982 MLB All-Star Game. Go take a walk, Don.

I don't walk so much as a shamble.

Gotta have something on the smaller computer screen as pretend TV viewing these days.

I've been trying to find a connection to Jerry Goldsmith (who wrote it) and Dennis McCarthy (who adapted it to the TNG theme) and ABC Sports. But, I can't.

I'm going to go take a shamble.

I didn't even remember that as the theme from Star Trek: The Motion Picture. I always identified it as STTNG. Having watched TMP a few weeks ago, now I remember why I've expunged it from my mind. Talk about horrible. Thank god for Khan.
