It's not any players fault where they were drafted, but biggest bust takes both into account.

I do not believe how much we gave up for (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky outweighs how horrible McNown and Enis were in comparison to (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky on the field.

Yeah. I really was fooled by McNown. I thought he'd be star in the league after watching him a lot in college. Never factored in what an asshole he was. He had talent. :x :x :x

Brady Quinn, Akili Smith, Jamarcus Russell, Winston, Mariota....they all had some opposition / prediction of not being NFL eliite QB's.

Tim Couch is a good call. He was a bust. Mitch is a tough one...as a Bears fan of course it's a bust, but nationally there was no shortage of writers questioning has resume.

I'm a Mitch hater but to be fair to him there was no consensus best QB in that draft. I personally didn't want him because of his short history at UNC, he didn't even beat out the competition to start there at first, and what QBs really go to UNC/ACC anyway.

I agree....there have been very few QB's that have come in the draft where everyone felt they were "can't miss". The Mahomes, Mitch, Watson class.....there was not a consensus pick.

How man of these were actual consensus QB picks?
Andrew Luck - Yes
Alex Smith - Arguably, Yes
Eli Manning - Yes
Carson Palmer - Yes....late bloomer, but I'd call him a bust.
David Carr - I think there were some doubts on this one. Still a bust.
Michael Vick - some doubters. If anything Vick exceeeded expectations
Tim Couch - Yes, bust
Peyton Manning - HOFer
Ryan Leaf - Consensus pick and a huge bust

I think you have it backwards with Carson. He was very very good to start with the Bengals. Then he injured his knee and became ineffective. Later on he revived his career with Arizona and became decent to slightly above average. So I wouldn't call him a bust in my opinion.

Is there a place that has produced more over hyped, under productive QBs in this millenium than USC?

Palmer was anything but a bust. He had success in Cinci and Arizona.

I'd take a QB from USC 10/10 times over someone from the hallowed football fields of UNC.

You making a John David Booty call?

Still would try my luck with a USC prospect over UNC players. You only go to UNC to play football because better football schools didn't want you. Check out this illustrious list of notable UNC QBs:

Marquise Williams
Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky
TJ Yates
Darian Durant
Bryn Renner
Ronald Curry

Ryan Pace is a dumbass.

Ronald Curry was a pretty good receiver. Shame he couldn't stay healthy.

Darnold looks like a Lego man but I think he's going to be pretty good if the Jets can get some pieces around him. Getting mono last season didn't help him...

LAKE FOREST – As many expected, the Bears aren’t about to give another year of contract security to their first round pick from 2017.
Per multiple reports, including Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Bears are declining the fifth-year option for quarterback Mitchell (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky.

To those that follow the Bears closely, if the Bears make the playoffs with Foles leading the way, but don’t make the Super Bowl and Mitch then isn’t with the team after the season ends....does Pace keep his job? Not should, but does?

Pace isn't going anywhere.

They would have to have another disaster of a season for it to even be a consideration.

Yeah it sure appears so. Wouldn't be quite as bad if there wasn't another QB taken a few spots later that is on track to be an all time great QB.

Why not pick an option that only guarantees for injury? Outside of Alex smith, those injuries almost never happen to qbs. Plus if Foles is actually good he will walk since they redid his contract to free him if he actually plays. Which is pretty stupid stupid to save a few guaranteed million.

Not agreeing or disagreeing just curious what others think.

In your opinion, what qualifies as disastrous? 6-10? Both Foles and Mitch wet the bed?

I guess what I’m really curious about, is there a set of circumstances where Pace is out, a new GM is hired and Nagy is retained?

Probably another 4-12 season with both QB's looking like garbage. Also throw in if no-shows started to become a factor.

JJ Stankevitz was on the Score earlier today and talked about this. He explained it pretty well I thought. Here is an article by him that goes into details.

To make (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky the scapegoat for everything.

Yeah I don’t see how Pace survives the Bears missing the playoffs and then at the end of the year Mitch is gone.

As far as no-shows...I don’t think fans will be in attendance but for other reasons. But who the fuck knows.
