Look at the whiner in chief. Guess good buddy Darko had no problem with your lack of Tee time access did he Fraternization?

Wonder why but then he again why would he being the credible poster that he is?

what the hell does this even mean?

Can you provide the post where you bitched about Frank and his tee time access? Maybe that will help as far as credibility. I know you to be an utterly full of shit guy but how about disproving it?

is this what your board existence has become? Worrying about what other people do or do not bitch about?
I didn't see the point in it but I'm a lot more worried about people losing their jobs and businesses than Frank's golf game. I found it so inconsequential in fact, I didn't bother replying to any of it. I'll be seeing frank soon, we have never pulled punches with each other and on this we probably won't either.

That's not a sacrifice. If you aren't clear on what it happens to be then grab a dictionary.

your grand sacrifice is some unpaid overtime and school supplies. Its not a sacrifice. Its what the job is sometimes.
You have an extraordinary high opinion of yourself.

No I don't. I just don't have to lie in order to find an equivalence like you do. There are people in this that have sacrificed a lot more than I have.
You invested in your business and considered it a sacrifice. You don't have a clue

How can someone as "smart" as you completely miss the point so many times?

No you tried to equate an investment in tools with an actual sacrifice.

You got called on it and now you are condescending again. If you weren't trying to equate then why mention it?
And I have yet to mention anything about purchasing school supplies either. You made that up but then you seem to do that a lot.

Do you read? I mean seriously. I'm in administration and I only teach the class because no one else is qualified to teach it. It's not "what the job entails sometimes". I can turn it down but I don't because it helps kids save on their college tuition.

Its nor just some "unpaid overtime" either. The class is taught for an entire year.

I'm not saying its a sacrifice at all
In fact I'm saying the precise opposite.

Here you are suggesting that you do in fact make sacrifices. Once again lying about it in the process.

What you're experiencing is part of the real world. Those of us who are salaried have likely put in plenty of uncompensated service. We all buy shit for our jobs except for guys like Denis with the expense report.

And I have yet to mention anything about purchasing school supplies either. You made that up but then you seem to do that a lot.

I would try to say it slow but on a message board that really doesnt work. I was talking about teachers who complain about buying school supplies. Most jobs require the employee laying out some cash to do the job. I am specifically saying it is not a sacrifice, its what the job is. Not everything a job is is confined to a mission statement or a job description. My job description says nothing about breathing black mold or about being exposed to high ppm of carbon monoxide. It says nothing about the hundreds of injuries I've sustained from needing stitches to burns. Thats just what the job is

Your sacrifice again seems to be some unpaid overtime. And I get it. Working off the clock is a bummer. I do it all the time. I help my neighbors or their friends all the time. I do a ln awful lot of pro bono work. I get 5 hours or more of calls from the apprentices or young journeymen every week, helping them, teaching them the trade, all unpaid. I dont get paid to help board members with their questions. Is that a sacrifice? Nope. Its just part of what I do for a living.

You could "volunteer" for it tomorrow and they still wouldn't allow you do it. There are prerequisites that you must meet. It's a teaching job not a soup kitchen.

You aren't making sense dude. Again can you or do you read? It's not "part of the job" if I decide not to do it. My job description doesn't require it. I sacrifice for the betterment of the students. I'm not expecting a parade as much as I am providing a counterargument for the greedy teacher narrative.

And no buying a few tools from the local hardware isn't an actual sacrifice. Providing a service that you are not required to perform without receiving compensation is and it is typical of the sort of sacrifices that many in the profession make.

It isn't "part of the job" either. There is something called a contract. It outlines what is and isn't "part of the job". Hint: That isn't part of it as I work in Administration which means I don't have to teach unless I agree to teach.

I have a contract too. I'm a union member. There are union rules. I still do plenty of things that my job description does not require. I work an average of maybe 5 to 7 or more hours a week I'm not compensated for. That's just what I consider part of the job. Its not a sacrifice when my apprentice is on a call at 10pm and he's stuck and he calls me and I jet on over to help him. You seem to think that kind of stuff is a great big sacrifice. I just feel its part of the duty.
Oh yes duty. I have a duty to my union. To my community. To my work mates.
For example, just today I ran a problem call my apprentice created. After work, off the clock, I brought him into a lab I built at the shop (off the clock) and demonstrated what went wrong and how to avoid it.
I do have a contract. Just like you. And I also go outside it, just like you. Unlike you I believe its a duty to the trade. You deem it a sacrifice. We differ on this opinion.

I know you are just pulling my crank but this is part of it I want to address as well: I don't expect the education system to be prepared for a pandemic. I don't think its unreasonable to be prepared for e-learning. That's not just on teachers. We have rules and regs contemplating e- learning scenarios so obviously someone is thinking about the topic. How is it not part of at least one day a year's worth of teacher institute?

I didn't expect seamless. I expected that every employee would know what to do in the case of a situation, just like they would for a tornado. Everyone seems just so caught off guard and that is true on both the public and private side. Then I see how relatively seamless high school has been and I wonder where is the disconnect.

I think every district is struggling with equity issues. Don't tell WFR I said that. Whatever preparation the teachers may have doesn't take into account the extraordinary number of poor families who simply don't have the basics needed to participate.

I'm on a weekly zoom meeting that CPS leadership, community members, teachers and parents are on. A teacher mentioned that a student reached out to her because they were hungry. A member of leadership mentioned Title IX and I completely lost my shit. MANY don't understand the needs of the people they represent. That makes it difficult to implement any effective program.

A month into remote learning CPS loaned out chromebooks to disadvantaged students. They quickly learned that MANY didn't work and that some families didn't have internet access and couldn't get it. How do you participate without basic items?

Could some teachers be doing a better job? Absolutely! I think most are doing the best with the best they can with the fucked up hand they've been dealt.

The schools are giving out food 5+ days a week without any limit on the meals. We have been trying to be very vocal to the community that the food isn't limited to students or families of students. I think the City has done a great job of announcing that.

Not sure I would say great. Sure they send out emails, but that's really it. If you're not checking your email, you're screwed. Consolidating some of the locations wasn't helpful but I understand economics plays a major role. We've been able to work with a few schools and drop boxes off at doors to some families in need.

I'll tell you what LTG, if you want to talk about sacrifice let's do that.

I have to be on call on mothers day. Do you work mothers day? Do you have to tell your mom that you're not able to see her on what could be her last mother's day because some jerk doesn't have hot water in Hanover park?

I worked 36 straight hours during the Jan 29th and 30th polar vortex. You ever worked from dawn thru dusk thru dawn again without a break or a nap?

Have you ever gone into a house with a gas leak where the wrong light switch or a phone ring from a telemarketer could kill you? I have.

Have you ever spent Christmas waiting for your phone to ring calling you into work? That is 6 of my last 8 Christmas.

Have you ever told a friend in say March that you can't commit to just having dinner in April because you might have to work or be on call until your schedule comes in? That happens to me every month.

Ever worked outside for 10 hours in below zero weather? I have

Ever worked outdoors in the rain for 8 hours? I did. Just last week.

Ever answered the phone at 3am summoning you to work? I bet no. I have. Every other week.

Ever had to work in a hoarder home with cat shit and dog shit and 100 rotten milk jugs knee deep? I have. I have video proof. Have you?

Ever had to break apart an asbestos boiler and carry it out of a house? I have. In February.

You ever remove a dead fried river rat off a contactor? I did that Monday.

Ever need stitches from a job at work? Or get a 3rd degree burn? Ever broke a bone? I have.

Have you been exposed to 6 households a day since March? Who may or may not have infection? I have.

I have sacrificed my health and my life for this job. Ask any single one of my friends. You sacrificed some overtime and sfhool supplies. You say to me that I don't understand the real world. I cannot disagree more.

Everything that you describe is part of the job. You perform manual labor.

It's hard to take a guy seriously that tells someone to stop complaining when all they ever do is complain themselves about their job. You complain more about your job than anyone else here. Now you proceed to preach to me about it? Get serious.

I only referenced it because it pertained to the thread.

not at all. This is the job. It's nothing like giving crayons to students, but sacrifice and duty nevertheless

You're a lost cause. You wouldn't know sacrifice if it fucked your wife.
I am done with you permanently. Bye.

Nah you will be back with another dose of hypocrisy. It's sort of who you are and what you do. Just too bad that I am able to call you on the bullshit.

Sacrificing overtime emanates from the mouths of fools. You attempted to pass tool purchases off as sacrifices which is idiotic as hell and now you are bitching because you have to perform hazard duty. How silly are you dude?

Spoken like the fool who thinks that a trip to Ace Hardware constitutes sacrifice.
