This seems somewhat reasonable - they have us going 11-5. Some of the games are pretty close, so could be 10-6 or 9-7.

Splits with Green Bay and Minnesota, Losses to Rams, NOLA, TB, and Houston gets you to 10-6.

The online power rankings are always laughably wrong and should be discarded, especially preseason. This aint 2018, the Bears are among the worst teams in the NFL now.

Yes or no.. The bears will have a top 5 D this year.

I saw Sir on sports talk live providing his thoughts about the schedule. My goodness has he aged. He grew out a beard, which is so gray he is starting to look like Lovie.

Yeah, I will not argue with that, but "among the worst teams in the NFL now" are also the Giants, who are worse. Our defense is top 10, maybe top 5. Giants have nothing going for them. They are at least a couple years away from mediocrity.

Pretty close game last year. Only thing I remember is Leno getting beat on almost every play and that Bears D made life hard on the rookie QB. It all comes down to competent QB play which will keep the D off the field and keep the aging defense fresh. A repeat of last years bottom five offensive performance will grind the D down quickly.

The Bears offense is by far the worst in the league. There is no offensive line.

Yes the Bears have a better defense, but its no longer the best defense. Its not going to win them games.

Foles will upgrade that position. IMO we have a top 3 D and the offense will be league average14-17th.

I'm seeing 10wins

Foles is the wild card, yes. He could shatter my prediction of four wins all by himself. I just doubt he will.

Highly unlikely Foles makes it through the season unscathed behind this offensive line. That means we will get a few awkward dead man walking Mitch starts sometime this season. If Foles goes down early the wheels may come off quickly, Nagy/Pace are fired, and the season will disintegrate into, "Tank for Trevor", or whatever QB rises to the top of draft boards. If Foles stays healthy the D likely gets them to 8-8 or 9-7. Looking more and more like yet another one of those seasons Bears fans are used to where the team just tried to tread water another season waiting for the QB messiah to arrive.

I dont think there is any way they fire Nagy or Pace midseason. They didn't fire Emery or Trestman midseason despite their being ample reason to let Trestman go. He had benched Cutler for Clausen and had clearly gone off the rails. Rarely do you see a coach actively detriment their own team. So if Trestman didn't get canned for that there's nothing Nagy can do short of actual criminality that will lead him to the indignity of a midseason canning.

They're both gone Black Monday though.

I am not sure I want Lawrence and I really dont want Fields. I'm very curious about what Trey Lance and Tanner Morgan bring this year. Davis Mills could easily go wild and cruise to being a runaway 1.1 pick.

Agree it won't happen mid-season, but I still think it's just Pace. Nagy would have to go 4-12 to get canned with 2 years left on his contract. The only reason Trestman was let go is he was clearly insane. Nagy is too well spoken and if anything, he has wrestled roster power way from Pace and the McCaskeys like him.

If the OL is as bad as it was last year, Foles is about as bad of a replacement for Mitch as you will find. He's a sitting duck who seems very happy to check down for a 2 yard gain on a pass.

I agree with this. Foles is going to get slaughtered back there. Even after Foles wins the starting job, we'll see Mitch start at least 4-6 games this season.

I just think that it is a shame that they are wasting a lot of talent on defense. That defense deserves better. And it is pretty much all being done with an incompetent General Manager who has failed to bring in 3 good offensive linemen and a good running back. Foles may be better than (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky if everything were better in front of him but he is not mobile and (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is and the opponent defense will maim him.

We saw signs last season of the defense starting to take plays off and wear down because of failure of the offense to do their share. I do not see this team winning more than 5-6 games this season.

Yeah and these co-called football prognosticators have no idea how woeful this offensive line is. They see a Super Bowl winning quarterback and a good defense and they spit out 11-5 or some other bullshit prediction. They also fail to understand that for all of the crap leveled at (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, he kept them in a lot of games and won games with his mobility. The Bears will have a terrible offense next year And this is all on Pace.

The line was bad, Easy to pin your ears back and attack when the QB is throwing 94% of the time and he cant throw downfield. Way too many screens to the RB and WR. Mitch is a dumb dude, Foles can run the whole playbook..that will help..he will also read the D and adjust.

Foles isn't Brady, Manning, or Rodgers.....he's going to get killed back there.

You might be right. Who knows? All that I do know is that the running backs aren't dependable and it sickened me the entire season watching the offensive tackles, especially Leno being knocked five yards backwards on every play.

I might be wrong. But I see (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky as a good young and mobile quarterback with bad offensive linemen in front of him and a pair of running backs who are not very good. IF they had a guy in the backfield who could break a tackle and was able to cut back and break away a time or two in a game, it would be a better situation but wishing for something doesn't mean that you are going to get it.

Except Foles has been known to activate a mode where he basically becomes that good for stretches. Its in explicable, he is one of the more interesting players in this era of the NFL.

3-13 according to this write-up. A Trestman like death spiral:

Quote:
Chicago Bears (3-13): The schedule is brutal, and the offensive weaponry supporting the unsettled quarterback position isn't a whole lot better. Barring another transcendent effort like the defense produced in 2018, more likely this franchise ends up cleaning house than returning to postseason.

Then you use google and find about 1000 other projections for us that are completely different. Everyone has projections, not sure why this one is special.

Whoever wrote that horseshit ought to be fired, our D was top 5 last year..it will be better this season with skeletor Floyd removed..
We were 30th in offense last year.. Nowhere to move but up under Foles.

Yes. I googled "2020 NFL Predictions" and the first 2 articles I read had us at 7-9 and 8-8. That article posted above is ridiculous.
