Ok. I didn't know what kind of explanation would possibly work here for a guy who remembers individual downs in early 90s ND games, but that one does.

So sad that you lost your bet against me and are so stupid to accuse me of being whatever a "mult" is. As for anyone "blocking me" I doubt it but that is okay if they want to. It is, after all, a free country. You are such a weak-assed insecure fellow that you can't even defend yourself in a basketball argument without getting all pissed off and trying to insult me.

As for "acting out", how have I acted out? I was a pretty good basketball fan when both Rose and Jones played and I stated my opinion. And I find it funny that you made the statement about "remembering Jalen Rose twenty years down the road". I literally chuckled at that remark. That would be the same as me remembering Ron Karkovice twenty years down the road or some other basically decent player but not a guy one would remember.

Also, don't be so pissy because you were proven wrong about my military service and lost some money in the process. It went to a good cause, little one, after all. But, you still are bitter, little one. I actually have deliberately laid off of you instead of rubbing it in after you lost yet you still cannot get over it, can you? I just advise you to lay off of butting heads with me and proceed to your merry way with you Packers bullshit and whatever else you post about But mess with me and you will get your assed kicked once again. Thanks for playing once again. :bom: :bom: :bom:

I never lost a bet against you and was never proven wrong. This last post by you reassured me more than ever I was correct in my initial judgement. It’s a shame you continue to steal valor over a dumb message board. That’ll be it until I’m bored enough to comment on another one of your posts 6 months from now.

Liar. You lost a bet about my being a decorated disabled veteran. You had to pay money to the Gary Senise Foundation because I provided PROOF of my military career. Everyone who was on the board at that time knows what went down. I really have ignored you for a long time because I really don't find you very versed in sports or on other subjects and took the high road so to speak about your losing that bet awhile ago.

I saw this discussion about basketball and added my comment and just posted my opinion. I happened to disagree with you is all but never answered the way that I did because of your stupid accusations of my having "stolen valor". I actually thought that we had settled this after it had happened but I guess not. Really pissed you off, huh, being proven wrong and losing that money? Poor baby.

So now, you are going to run and hide once again for six months, eh? Why don't you just go away forever and find someone else to insult with your immaturity and stupid hatred of combat veterans. Jealousy is all over you, little one. Just go away into a corner and wait for some garbage to get thrown to you. Loser. :eye: :eye: :eye:

Who paid the money on our bet? You or me? Who had to apologize? You or Me? I think that you should answer those two questions before you slink off and try to engage with normal people.

You have nothing. Why? Because there is nothing that says Rose was better at basketball than Eddie Jones. You should know better.

I saw them both play at the time when I cared more about the NBA than anything else in the world. Eddie Jones was a completely replaceable player than always shrank when it mattered. Jalen Rose was ultimately a forgettable player but he came up when it mattered. I’m still a young man relatively speaking but I’ll remember Jalen playing 20 years from now. I’m not sure I can even currently recall an Eddie Jones moment

That's really HILARIOUS. Your melodramatic statement about "remembering Jalen playing 20 years from now" is remarkable. He was like a 5th or 6th or 7th player on a good team. Jones was a starting guard and three time all star because he played both sides of the court. Neither were remarkable players. You must have really been hard up to remember Jalen Rose as an NBA player.

HE WAS THE 2ND LEADING SCORER ON A TEAM THAT WENT TO THE NBA FINALS. JESUS CHRIST MAN

Definitely Eddie Jones. Rose was a loser.

That’s a trash opinion. Jones was garbage. Rose came to play when it matters. If Bird trusts him more we’re in trouble in 97-98

Well he's generally regarded as a turnstile and Kobe's game is indicative of that. Kobe is a great scorer but he's not the first - plenty of people can put the ball in the bucket, but no one in however many years put up as much as Kobe did. Not the 7 foot Shaq who in his prime could dunk on Godzilla at will, not Hakeem, not Jordan, not LBJ, etc. It's still basketball man - just because you can score doesn't mean putting up 81 is still conceivable. Especially when you're average height for the NBA (6'6 isn't anything special). Why can Bruce Bowen or Shane Battier hound Kobe into 9-31 shooting nights for 37 points while 6-8 Jalen Rose gets 81 dropped on his head? Because he sucks and never tried hard on defense.

My bias here in case it isn't obvious is defense. If you don't try hard on D then I don't give a shit about you. Rose was in that category for me. No value add if you can score 21 in a breeze but your guy hits you up for 25 on 70% shooting.

Stop that nonsense. 81 all on Jalen? We say that because Jalen is on ESPN. Lazy narrative. Nobody remembers the other players on the 27-55 Toronto Raptors. Watch the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9NILK4OXpo

P.S. Kobe put up 45 against Battier that same year and Battier fouled out

Kobe put up 50 against Iguodala shooting 66% a few weeks prior to his 81 performance.

 Are you digging into 2006 regular season box scores? That's genuinely awesome.

Look, we started this discussion about Jones vs Rose and I told y'all that Jones was the more complete players. Regular and advanced stats show that.
.
https://www.basketball-reference.com/pl ... r__players

No question Jones is the better player and the better building block, to me.

I'm actually going to be more charitable than others about rose here. When he was Indiana he was an x factor. He had a skill set no one else on that team had. Because the team filled with veteran players who mostly played defense Rose's considerable deficiencies were covered up. Put Jones on that team over Rose and they beat the bulls in 98

The video is telling. Lazy people use the lazy narrative of Kobe's 81 game when talking about Jalen's defense.

Jalen had a good reputation on defense as a Pacer. He held his own. He was capable.

Okay so if you want to go there, here we go:

- it's lazy to omit Jalen's time in Denver, Toronto, Chicago, etc., and only focus on Indiana
- it's lazy to miss that Indiana's defense was anchored by elite interior defenders Derrick McKey, Dale and Antonio Davis, not to mention 7'4 Rik Smits, which made up for poor perimeter defense from Miller and Rose
- it's lazy and misleading to not refer to Rose's stats: in advanced metrics,if you look at the link you'll see that not only does Rose pale in comparison to Eddie Jones in advanced defense metrics, he's actually a lot closer to defensive wizard Eddie Curry than he is to a peer like Jones

https://www.basketball-reference.com/pl ... r__players

So you're comparing Jalen Rose to Eddy Curry?

Image

I think it's hard to measure defensive impact using analytics. To me, eye test is most important.

Jones was a great defender. But he lacked ability in other areas, choked in many playoff games, and was vastly overpaid during his Miami days. I find it funny both the Lakers and Heat won championships after trading Jones away.

Rose's job on the Bulls was to shoulder the scoring load on a young team. Cartwright played him a shit ton of minutes every night. His focus was offense and being a consistent scorer. It's difficult to play consistent defense when you're the 1st and 2nd option on offense.

I'll be honest, the moment you brought up Kobe's 81 game, I gave up. It's a cheap lazy narrative. You seem like a good dude though. No hard feelings. You got Jones. I got Rose. If 2K still has blacktop, I'll beat your ass anytime :D

The "eye test" is weak when accomplishments, stats and advanced stats favor 1 player. It's better to just say "I'm wrong, but I am going to debate something that you can't disprove."

Rose averaged 14 points a game for his entire career. And all he did was shoot the ball. He didn't rebound. He wasn't a good assist guy. He could not defend anyone. All he could do is shoot the ball. He went to the finals once and took out Kobe on a dirty play in the process.

Rose was decent on offense. I said that. I also said that he was slightly above average over-all player. But he also was a soft player and weak defensively. He also was a dirty player and deliberately tried to cripple Kobe in that one finals he was ever in. Will you also remember Rose 20 years from now?

I predict LeBron James is driven so nuts about Jordan clearly being better he infects himself with COVID prior to a playoff game and wins it just as he is dying.
