Was listening to B&B without Bernstein yesterday, and was entertained by Terry fully engaged. It's been a long time, and I forgot how much I enjoyed that -- Terry presenting thoughts and interacting with the callers and Drinky.

With this in mind, I suggest: Terry and Drinky as the afternoon guys. Oh, and what do you do with the 10-12 slot? That's Bernstein and Goff. Larry goes out to continue doing what he does better: reporting and evening/weekend shows. Now: these stupid 4-hour and 2-hour shows. Screw that; everyone gets 3-hour shows. An hour more of Murph to celebrate his monster ratings, alignment with Silvy/Waddle's show so B&Goff can spank their asses, and fulltime experience of their upcoming talent with proven talent. Works!

As a fan of B & B, I'm both liking and disliking your proposal...is that possible?

Maybe. But it also alleviates the problem of giving Matt and/or Goff a show and weakening the B&B franchise. Plus I miss having Terry in a more active role. It's a more pleasant dynamic (i think)

If I was the boss of 670 "The SCORE", I'd actually pull the plug on "Stocks & Jocks with Dr. Jon Najarian" simply because he doesn't fit the sports talk format. "Mully & Hanley" should start at 5a, just like "Mike & Mike" do on ESPN Radio. Both shows should be over at 9a, with Laurence Holmes & Mike Murphy respectively hosting 3 hours apiece. Laurence would air at 9a, with "Murph" at 12Noon. "Boers & Bernstein" would then air 3-6p, and extended only to 6:30 or 7p whenever there's a White Sox game. Come September & October, depending in large part on whether the Sox are still in the pennant race and/or playoffs, "Chicago NFL Live" with Doug Buffone, "Bears' All Access" with Zach Zaidman, plus local shows with Brian "Whipping Boy" Paruch & "Last Call" with both Matt Abbatacola & Jason Goff filling out the 6-10p hours until Dan Patrick's tape delayed show airs. Paruch, Abbatacola, Goff, Buffone & Ed O'Bradovich will also be in the mix for local sports talk every weekend once Sox season ends.

I only skimmed your plan, or didn't even skim so much as stare straight at the screen, but it's a failure because I saw "Bears All Access with Zach Zaidman" in it.

Stocks & Jocks is paid programming and has a following with the traders.

Thanks for the info concerning "Stocks & Jocks" being a paid commercial program and being popular with traders. I'm not listening to my radio that early, and I apologize. Paid programs are rare on radio, but much more prominent on TV, especially late at night & after the crack of dawn. As for "Bears' All Access," that's the one hour weekly show that's a collaboration between "The SCORE" & Chicago Bears Broadcasting during football season only. That's just one of the shows that'll be on in September when football season starts, and there won't be as many White Sox games at night.

Although I haven't heard it lately, the big burly voiceover of "The SCORE" actually promoted Dr. Jon's show by saying "Fed up with the markets? Get the real story on the Dow. Stocks & Jocks with Dr. J. Mornings 5-6 on 670 "The SCORE."

I probably should have said more, but couldn't think what else to say. I'm not sure if the morning drive-in slot, as it relates to advertising & ratings, begins at 5 or 6. I suspect it's 6am. In other words, it's in no-one's way. And it's fairly popular as I said among real traders. E.g., it's on just before they begin their pit sessions. That might matter less now with 24x5 electronic trading...

The rest is cool, except I'd find someone better for the "Larry slot" than Larry. Definitely not Hub or Zach, if you've been listening to their sub shows this week...

Assuming growth from within, guys who I'd use are Paruch, Goff and Drinky. Bartosch is around and I think gettable. I would bring up Grobber, but he keeps saying he's happy doing other stuff...

Stocks and Jocks is a good show. Finance for meatballs, if you will. I doubt any serious trader would get any scoop on it but it's a good listen. I find both the Doc and the Chief rather charismatic.

I am familiar with Dr. Jon Najarian's work dating back to when Bob Sirott & Marianne Murciano did "FOX Thing in the Morning" in the '90s. He seems to know his stuff about the markets given his many years as a trader himself. "Grobber" is of course, Les Grobstein, who is the radio voice of the WNBA Chicago Sky on WVON Radio. I remember he did overnights at "The SCORE" until he was fired for an All-Star Game credential fiasco when MLB held the "Midsummer Classic" at Seattle's Safeco Field if memory serves. "Grobber" also appears on "Me TV" 23 Sundays at 7a on "CPS Sports Edition", talking Chicago Public League sports with Kenny McReynolds & Calvin Davis, the boss of the CPS Sports program.

If Matt and/or Goff are ready to work as permanent hosts, it is ridiculous to then say "but we can't because B&B need them as producers."

The days of Danny Mac filling in on Chet's show when Chet was gone... what if they would have said "Nah, Mac needs to stay as producer, or else the show will suffer."

How about this one
6-9 Bernsie and The King, the 2 of them could do a sports and general topics show that actually works.
9-12 Mully and Hanley
12-3 Murph
3-6 (or until Sox Pre) Drinky and Terry.

Larry is back doing the bears beat, which is what he does best. I would say keep Murph 12-2 and have 4 hours of Drinky and Terry, but I'm biased on that one. Zach would rarely be on my radio, which is a good thing. That lineup and my dial would never change (except to MJH during commercials)

Without Stock and Jocks where would we be without "HOWW!"

Listening right now, trading the Euro, gotta love a 24 hour market

Terry did seem a lot more 'active' while Bernsie was out last week. Then again, since the show is Boers & Bernstein, I guess it would be pretty embarrassing if some producer showed more effort.

Leave Dr. J alone, he's still better than Murph...

Last time I read a fluff article on B&B, they let out that their producers do a lot of show preparation. They like it better when they (B&B) come in and today's show is a bit of a surprise for them. I decided to take that at face value: Matt and Goff plot out the show, and Boers and Bernsie act it out, making adjustments to the flow as different kinds of goofs call in.

Any truth to that statement, maybe one could leave, but both leaving at once would be onerous. Which is why I did two "old/new" combos.

Shark is pretending to be an announcer, I think. Perhaps he's channeling Ted Knight's character on "Mary Tyler Moore". I liked that guy

First of all, I'm not pretending to be any announcer, but I appreciate the kind words. I know the bumbling "Ted Baxter" character that Ted Knight played on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" in the '70s, and MSNBC's Keith Olbermann constantly refers to "Ted Baxter", not to mention Larry Linville as "Frank Burns" from "M*A*S*H*", when mentioning FOX News Channel's Bill O'Reilly. Olbermann should rename that "Worst Person in the World" award on his "Countdown" show in "honor" of "Bill-O".

Well Shark, it's good that you're not pretending to be an announcer but your act is lame nonetheless. You shall henceforth be re-named "Captain Obvious."

How about thrilling us with another 5,000-word essay full of useless tidbits and a wide assortment of quotation marks? Apparently BigFan must be paying you based on word count.

Kid's bringing sexy back, or more precisely, 2005 back. Rookie abuse was rampant on this board then. Vitriolic twins (no longer from) EG Greg and A7X would be proud. The only difference is that Kid conducts this without summoning the saltier parts of his vocabulary.

Stocks and Jocks is not a paid show. We find that a lot of financial people listen on the way into work...I will though consider your thoughts and think about making that time(5-6am) a true Chicago sports show.

Mitch, keep the show...if you're not sure, conduct a webpoll on this site asking if you should keep it...I'm sure SHARK, or Deep Blue or HAL 2000 would be in the minority...
