Hello to all CSFMB users. I truly appreciate all the great feedback on the boards. There is no doubt The Score has been going through transiton of late, and anytime when change is made some people like it and others don't. Please keep in mind any changes we make are made with the best interest of the audience.

I will attempt to be on this more often and answer as many questions as I have time for. I really look at you guys as our customers and feedback is extremely welcome. That being said fire away. It might take a couple days for response but I will answer all.

Mitch, although I know Laurence is a whippin' boy for this message board, I happen to like his work.

Why not have rotating cohosts with him? Hub Arkush for the football fix, ??? for a baseball fix and one other 'Mick Kelleher type' utility person?

For what it's worth Dan Hampton was brutal when he sat in, but that was his maiden voyage I guess.

Also... why don't you flop the 10-noon and noon-2 shows. That way it's not like Laurence would have any competition while you work out the right combination.

Mitch,

Laurence seems to be getting a chance to get the 10-noon, when does Matt A. get such a chance?

At any point during the MNMS train wreck, I mean show, was there ever a point where someone said to Pappy, "let us help, let us see how we can fix this". With that said, do you think the score will ever give total creative control to another host?

Thanks Mitch!

C'mon. Don't patronize us Mitch. Don't act like you wanted to get rid of Pappy. You guys offered him 800k to stay. It was the right move for the station to get rid of him but that's not what you guys wanted. Pappy's dumb ass saved you guys by turning down that offer.

Everybody here told you from day 1 of his morning show that Pappy was a joke. You guys should have listened to us.

That's what Mitch does, he never really answers a question, those who have sent Mitch a email and got a reply from him can verify that. Its disappointing to see his answers here so far, but I am not surprised.

Mitch-

I posted this somewhere else, but if I had things my way as a listener I would love this lineup:

6-10am:Mulley & Handley (pretty solid)
10am-2pm:Boers & Bernstein (no longer going head to head against MJH. I think they would kill ESPN 1000's ratings in this slot)
2-6pm: Murph & Me (Laurence of course)
6-10pm: The Drinky, Goff & whoever else is left show.

I'm guessing Murph doesn't want to have a partner, but I loved it a couple of weeks ago when he called in when Laurence filled in for him. I think they could be an inetesting pairing.

Is this feasable?

Mitch, I have this dry patch of skin under my chin on my neck. Every time I shave it itches uncontrollably. I use a high end aftershave but that only seems to further dry the skin. Do you have any suggestions to solve the problem?

Hey Mitch,

Before you and the current Managment team arrived, WSCR rarely or never lost a ratings book to AM1000/ESPN1000, but once you guys were put in place, it seems you lose two or three times a year, who is to blame?

Dear Mitch-

Now that we know exactly what the numbers are involving Mike North, who is the highest paid talent on The Score. Is it Bernstein? Does he make $800K?
If that is the case, shame on The Score because he is not worth it. Laurence Holmes is way more entertaining the Bernsie can ever be.

Getting back to North, I really think that the end started for him when he and Jiggs split up. Is it true that Mike North is responsible for the shake up back in '98?

I don't think Bernsie makes 800k. Keep in mind, B&B have equal stock. They have to split the show's worth between both of them. I'll bet Boers got a little more than Bernsie on their last deals. Boers had more tenure. I'd guess Boers makes 600k and Bernsie makes about 500k. Bernsie will get more for his next deal. Mac said Boers contract expires in September. The Score might say the hell with him. They really don't need him. It's basically the Bernsie show with Terry as a prop.

Pappy made all of the money for the morning show. Fred might have had an 80k salary with bonuses. They did throw away some cash on Annie. What a waste. She probably cleared 100k per year until they realized what a joke that was.

Thanks to all for your repsonces. As I stated we offered Mike a chance to stay, he choose not to. Losing the Hawks was a big blow, but it was a business decision by the Hawks. NIU has been a good partner when we signed the deal they were the best College Football team in the State. Some people were asking about Holmes, as I stated yesterday Laurence is a great host. Ratings wise, the ratings fluctuate between us and WMVP, give credit where credit is due, they had a very storng Spring Ratings book, we feel the new PPM measurement is real, and that early indications are that both stations can do well. Early data shows more people listen to the Score thank WMVP. Thanks.

Mitch,

As a Score listener since the beginning, I'm offended that you'd come here and tell us things like: "We love Laurance" and "we want whats best for the audience"

Please dont talk down to us. The North show was never tolerable. It got worse ande worse. Though changes were made during its time in the morning, North clearly had final say on the shows direction. JAG BAG OF THE DAY, FReds movie reviews, Real Eastate Game, 5 Team Parlay, Mikes Rants, etc, etc,. etc are all pitiful examples of that. Dont you listen? Cuz if you did, I would feel you would've had meetings with North and make him shut the crap down. I didnt listen to Mike and mike because I liked them. I listened because I couldnt stand North. Forget the billboards. It was uncomfortable radio.

Put Murph back on for four hours and send Larry back to his old job there. He's a pathetic Bernsie wannabe and he's very creepy with a female co host. My wife listened for the first time while in the car and she made me turn the channel. I gladly obliged. And we all know as well as you do that the only reason he's got a show now is because he's CHEAP.

I hate Bernsie but I know he's not going anywhere so I'll continue to listen to MJH. You can lose every book them for all i care.

MUCH KUDOS for Mulley and Hanley. Great show. 1000% IMPROVEMENT and I think you know it. I bet you even listen now.

Sports radio is needed in Chicago. You could put just about anyone on the air (and sometimes you do. Dan Hampton?) and get listeners. Listeners listen because they like sports. Give us some credit and put some god damn proffessionals on and not your janitors. For demos and ratings. You have one station to beat. You fail way too often considering you're local. I dont blame the hosts. I blame yourself and management there.

Sports radio is like pizza. Its got to be pretty bad for me not to like it.

YOUR PIZZA tastes like shit way too often.

I wonder if Boers and Bernstein will consider Mitch one of those 'creepy message board bullies with their pants around their ankles' now.

A contradicts B. If sports radio is so in demand in Chicago, then why would the stations need to pay handsomely for talent? If they can get away with the Laurence Holmes & Dan Hampton Show, then why do more, right?

I think the worse U of I or Northwestern teams could beat the best NIU team any time. I could be wrong, but never has NIU been the "best" college team in Illinois IMO.

Mitch. Long time listener, first time Crapper (or NOT). You just lost the latest book using the new PPG or OPS or whatever it's called. There is a segment on Thursday's on B&B. It's at 5:00. This quote will be submitted (though I doubt it will make air :D ).

Seriously Mitch. We really do appreciate that you are taking the time to come on here, but if you're just gonna spew the company line and use this as a commercial for your station, then why are you bothering? Through good math we all know what happened with Pappy. We all know Larry in his current position is a joke. Please stop feeding us answers that show you think we're 4 year olds.

Mitch:

1) I don't understand why you're trying to alienate half of your audience with Larry Holmes. You already have one pretentious, vituperative host from 2 - 6; why put his junior on from 10 - noon?

2) Why were you so worried about nostradamus? He hardly posted anything earth-shattering.

3) Why do we have to put up with Stocks 'n' Jocks, Dan Patrick, and the syndicated programming overnight? Give us Chicago sports 24/7, just like it was back when the station switched to 1160.

A few other questions:

1. If Murph has really been whipping Tirico (with the exception of this last book), why didn't you expand him to a four-hour show? Or, to paraphrase North, are the ratings flawed?

2. What do you view the typical lifespan of a show to be? HFC and Monsters were busted up after seven years; B&B is now going on 9. Should we expect changes with this show soon?

Holmes shouldn't be anywhere near a live microphone, why don't you switch him to a salesman? Oh, I forgot - been there, failed that too.
