He's with the Bears until after the 2012 season.

Nice thing with the 'uncapped' year taking place in 2010.

Whats the terms of the deal? Did they end up giving him #1 money or not?

$15 million guaranteed doesn't sound bad.

Sounds like a pretty fair deal for both parties.

I like that they put the onus on Hester to perform up to his contract, or the contract de-escalates.

BTW: "De-Escalates?" Seriously? That's a real word?

As a follow up, if an escalator makes things go up, what is the proper term for the "escalator" that leads down to the first floor? Is THAT a de-escalator?

They're all escalators.

I'm happy for Devin. We all know he's stupid but I think he's a good, humble, hard working kid. He worked hard for this and he is extremly talented. He's gonna shatter the return TD record by the time he's done. He'll have 5 times more TDs, at least, then the 2nd place guy when he's done. He's gonna bust his ass to be a good receiver. I think he will be a good receiver. Jerry Rice? No. But I think he can be a good one.

Plus, he was a dirt poor kid growing up and now he can help his mom and family.

Good for you Devin.

If Devin Hester can learn where to properly position himself as a wide receiver and elude defensive players as well as he does when he returns punts & kickoffs, it may be a worthwhile investment for the Chicago Bears to give him the kind of cash they just rewarded #23 with.

Good news for the Bears is they didn't have to tear up his current deal. In a way it's like 6 years $31M

That's exactly what it is Nas. That's why the bonus was so high. 15 million up front will hold him over with that poor 450k salary the next 2 years.
