The CHAZ subreddit is a glorious place. For as far left as Reddit usually is, the amount of people just making fun of these CHAZ nitwits is amazing.

As someone who never spends a minute on Reddit, wtf is CHAZ?

Seattle, the Capital Hill Autonomous Zone. I don't even watch the news and I knew that.

There are so many dumb assed acronyms being tossed around here I've tended to stop caring to bother.

And I can only stomach so much news, business and "sports" programming over the last two months +.

It's healthy to unplug.

I've watched too much of the news shows over the past three months, liberal, conservative and cub biased and I can tell you it causes more brain rot then any kind of gaming or heavy metal music. You wonder sometimes how any of these people were plucked from obscurity and given national shows but then you realize that in normal times they are broadcasting to crickets

What news channel did you watch the most? Favorite show?

for daily news shows I probably watch WGN locally the most, BBC and Chicago Tonight (I'll sprinkle in some ABC). Sometimes I'll catch Vice to see what otherwise unemployable journalists are thinking that day. These are shows I would have watched prior to 2020 anyway.

Nationally, and these are the real brain rots, I principally watch CNN and their band of nightly stupidity. Each hour long show gets progressively worse from 6 pm. I don't know how Fredo and Lemon continue to be employed. I'll flip over to Fox to see the blank stares and obtuse takes of Tucker. These shows are all bad for your soul and the real danger is the pose as nourishment, like you are being more informed by watching. They are news mcdonalds. These are the shows I am principally speaking about. I rarely if ever flipped to these stations before covid and now I see why both the right and left in this country hate each other. Hours and hours of shit stirring and skewed facts.

Then there are the shows that are specfically entertainment news. I used to really like The Daily Show. I hate Trevor Noah. Not funny. Predictable. No grip on reality. I say this as a guy who actually saw him do stand up, which was just painfully unfunny. I'll watch Maher sometimes. I can only stomach a little of Samantha Bee until I want to punch the TV. My son really likes John Oliver and I kind of do as well.

Finally, there are the Sunday shows. I, of course, like the bookend news magazines CBS presents with Sunday Morning and 60 Minutes.

I absolutely hate that Martha Raddatz. She doesn't even try to hide her bias. Chuck Todd is as dumb as his hair. I guess I would say I like Stephenopolous the best. These are shows I only sometime watch because Sundays were church days and then family times. My wife actually gets me into them more as she records them and watches them at different points on Sunday.

These are your people. You think they were Biden voters?

I think there's a lot of hope that they will be.

They are handling the election to Trump. "Defund the Police" is going to haunt Biden and he isn't even for it.

It's highly unlikely MANY of them will ever vote for Biden or ever vote. They're already sharing his "history of protecting cops". I'm not sure Biden will be penalized by suburban moms for "Defund the Police". Plus, it would be hard for even Trump of make the case that Biden wants a defund the police and he's resting for mass incarceration.

Two out of his three most likely VP picks were THE MAN for long periods of their careers.

Rhetorically and stylistically that is Trump. Not exactly a W for deviance.

Wrong. "Defund the Police" will get many scared of the party promoting the idea.

Even Bernie thinks "Defund the police" is bad.

No centrist dem is going to switch to Trump because of this. Independents might. But if the Bernie bros in the Midwest states that Hillary lost vote Biden then it's over for Trump.

There is a good portion of the voting public that voted for Trump in 2016 that don't want to in 2020. It's not Bernie Bros either. "Defund the police" may make them think twice.

isn't there a pretty big difference between "defund the police" and "abolish the police" ?

seems like MANY are in favor of defunding

Again, that's kind of what you say about many ideas you dislike.

So why will "defunding the police" take precedence over every other issue, especially the economy?

Defunding is basically abolition from all things that aren't revenue collection. That's what they mean when they say defunding, it just means make policing more profitable for municipal and state governments.

I saw the new a couple of days ago which was covering some city(don't remember which one)that the Dipshit "protestors" were tearing down two former Confederate statues. The assholes had already lopped the heads off the statues and had hitched a line around one of the statues to the back of a truck. There were a couple of young girls with sledge hammers alongside the statue and had been trying their unladylike best to knock it down. So, eventually the statue got pulled down. Just before it happened I told my wife, that they'd better watch out or someone below was in danger of getting hit. So, sure as shit, the dumb asses pulled the statue on the head of apparently the boyfriend of the sledgehammer wench.

And guess what these liberal hypocrites did after this happened..... OF course they did.... The people who absolutely hate law enforcement and were filmed attacking the police and burning and looting businesses and wanting cops defunded.... Yeah THOSE DOPES.... Yeah, they called the POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT personnel to HELP that bozo. The same people who wished cops to get hurt, begged for the cops to HELP THEM.

Fuck these low lives. They aren't worth a damned bit of help from anyone. maybe if the cops and firemen didn't respond, it would have been better. Let the people who want cops defunded should get their way. Let them experience facing down rapists, arsonists, robbers, and murderers. Let them try and protect their children to, from and within public schools from gang bangers, drug pushers, and child predators. :eye: :eye: :eye:

Sounds like things are going well. Nice to see the police chief throw the mayor under the bus.

Seattle Police Chief: ‘We’re Not Able to Get to’ 911 Calls for ‘Rape, Robbery’ in Autonomous Zone
Tobias Hoonhout

The head of the Seattle’s Police Department told officers in a video address on Thursday that the decision to abandon the city’s Third Precinct to activists was “not my decision,” and has prevented the department from responding to emergency calls in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Police Chief Carmen Best, who joined Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan at a news conference Thursday afternoon, revealed that “ultimately the city had other plans for the building and relented to public pressure.”

“You should know, leaving the precinct was not my decision,” Best told her fellow officers. “You fought for days to protect it. I asked you to stand on that line. Day in and day out, to be pelted with projectiles, to be screamed at, threatened and in some cases hurt. Then to have a change of course nearly two weeks in, it seems like an insult to you and our community.”

On Wednesday, the Seattle Police Department said it would try to reopen the East Precinct, and Best was able to visit the location on Thursday. “Our calls for service have more than tripled,” she told reporters. “These are responses to emergency calls — rapes, robberies, and all sorts of violent acts that have been occurring in the area that we’re not able to get to.”

At the press conference with Durkan, who claimed the occupants of the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” (CHAZ) were engaging in an act of “patriotism,” Best remained noncommittal on a when police might return to the area, but explained that the evacuation had come after reports that the precinct could be burned down.

“We were asked to do an operational plan, in case we needed to leave,” Best said, not saying who exactly gave the order to withdraw. “We got an update that there was the potential for fire — of course if the precinct goes down in fire, the whole block could potentially burn up.”

Best also clarified that her department had not received “any formal reports” of CHAZ occupants extorting businesses, after saying in the video address that police had heard of “armed people” in the area “demanding payment from business owners in exchange for protection.”

Michael Solan, the head of Seattle’s police union, also slammed the decision to leave the precinct, calling it “the closest I’ve seen to our country becoming a lawless state.”

“Where is the safety of the reasonable community of the city of Seattle? To me, that is absolutely appalling, and I am embarrassed being a Seattle resident to even talk about this,” Solan told Tucker Carlson.

Officers will likely be fired for shooting at a vehicle. Not allowed.

2 shot by Chicago police after officer dragged by vehicle in Englewood
Carly Behm

Just after 5 p.m., an officer with the auto theft task force saw a stolen car, a black Chevrolet sedan, in the 7000 block of South Green Street, CPD Chief of Operations Fred Waller said at a news conference at the scene.

The officer approached the car on foot, but the driver sped off and dragged the officer a short distance.

More officers responded, and one of them opened fire, striking the suspects, Waller said. The car crashed in an alley in the 7200 block of South Green, between Green and Halsted Street.

The officer who was dragged was taken to an area hospital, where he is in good condition, Waller said. The suspects suffered non-life threatening injuries and are both in good condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Both suspects were taken into custody, and a weapon was recovered on the scene, according to a statement from police. Charges are pending.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating, and the officers have been placed on 30-day administrative leave, Waller said.

I would assume the rule changes with the dangling cop?

In that Miami video, it bothers me that people are obstructing an emergency vehicle. I think we all know to get out of the way of police and fire vehicles when the lights are flashing.

Damn some of those cops are buff....they weren’t messing around.
