It's not do or die for the Sox. Look at it this way, if the Sox lose 3 out of 4 they are still a half game in first place.

It's not do or die for the Twins. Getting swept would really shatter their confidence, however. They are a young team. Plus, they got swept in 4 games at the Cell the last time these teams played.

Gomez is out for this first game. That's big. Maybe some balls will drop in center. He sucks up everything.

I'd be content with a split based on the pitching lately. Still over 500 on the road trip, and wouldn't lose any ground.

Sox are gonna score 10 runs today. Slowey has nothing. 2 out of the first 3 batters were outs but everybody is right on him.

Twins will go to their pen in the 4th.

Well, Slowey is obviously gonna go past the 4th. But I'm telling you, if they don't get at least one big inning off him, the Sox should be ashamed. He's got nothing. Billy Bear lined out. Nice play. That would have been one run. Had some hard outs in the 1st too.

Fuckin' Buehrle. He's got Morneau 1-2 and he puts his nothing fast ball right down the middle. 2 run shot. 4-0 Twins.

Randy Johnson pitched 7 shutout innings against the Cub in similar fashion. Cub batters hit about 10 or 11 hard-hit at'em balls.
Baseball is a funny game.

That was a foul ball.

Hawk is right. Dye fucked up by walking back to the plate. He should have run. I mean, if the hitter thinks it was foul then the umps will think so too.

That ball was clearly foul, however.

I never thought it was fair.

Everything I saw from Buehrle is up. Sox need to score this inning if they want to win this game.

I'm done with Konerko. Yesterday he had a chance, did nothing. Double play here. Fuck you Paulie, and fuck you Ozzie for trotting his ass out there everyday.

Yeah. Konerko just looks like he doesn't even want to hit. He has no confidence. He looks like he knows he is gonna make an out. The fucker didn't even run. He would have been out anyway.

Maybe I'll change my stance. Maybe you bench him 3 games out of every 10 until he comes out of it. I just don't think you can sit him the rest of the year. I just think, for better or worse, you gotta play him still. We can carry him and we'll need him in the playoffs. Maybe we can catch lightning in a bottle in October.

He is bringing nothing right now. He can't hit, he can't run, and apparently can't play good defense anymore. Its time to make Paulie a part time player, and if not (god knows why) he should be batting no higher than 9th in the lineup.

I'm sick of hearing this shit about him being a proven guy and a professional. Its almost fucking August and he's closer to .200 than .250, thats just a shitty season and its time he'd be replaced with somebody else. At this point, nobody in the Sox entire organization, let alone the 25 or 40 man roster, can do any worse.

There is that famous disgusted look from Swisher as he takes strike 3. The entire ball was over the plate Swisher!!!! Sit your ass down. Next time swing the fuckin' bat.

He looks pretty brutal up there. I agree about his lack of confidence, but I also don't see Ozzie benching him.....About the only solutions I can see are dropping him to 7th or 8th in the lineup, and resting/benching him against historically bad matchups for him.

Great defense here guys. I know the ump missed the call but it was still barely a decent throw by Fields.

That's twice in the last 2 weeks that Alexei tried to be fancy and made an error. Looks like we're gonna live and die by that style. He will make the fantastic play but right there you just gotta make the out.

I'm sure he'll learn. But he does like to show off. There is no doubt about that.

Those 10 runs I predicted - I didn't think we were gonna need every damn one of them to win this game

The White Sox have been playing lousy defense since they came back from the All-Star Break! Chew on this, Sox fans... The Chicago White Sox are 2nd in the A.L. behind the Texas Rangers in ERRORS! Combine that with the pitching that can't seem to get the outs now that they were getting earlier in the season and you've got a recipe for disaster! In fact, while the stats suggest the Sox are better with Konerko at first & Swisher in the outfield, I'm not so sure. In fact, doesn't Josh Fields look tentative at best at third since his call-up?

This will be the 3rd time around for the order vs Slowey. Gotta get him big this inning. No excuses not to

I'm not at all panicking, I'm just frustrated at how this team can play so well one series, and look so lousy the next.

Still, NOT a good start to this series.

The defense let Buehrle down in the 5th, as he was charged with 5 runs, but only 4 earned in only 5 innings of work.

Yeah the umps blew a couple calls and the D let him down, but please. 4 earned runs in 5 innings is not a very good outing.

Buehrle's bad start tonight can NOT be a good omen for tomorrow night's starter Clayton Richard in that glorified pool room of a ballpark!

I don't think the defense had anything to do with those 2 monster 2-run homers that Buehrle gave up.

Absolutely not...The defense let Buehrle down in the 5th inning, but the 3rd inning was a different story entirely and #56 paid the price.

What the fuck does Buehrle's start have to do with Clayton's? Clayton will suck or be good on his own. It wouldn't matter if Buehrle pitched a no hitter or gave up 12 runs. Has nothing to do with Clayton.
