What a great fucking song. Hadn't listened to that in years.

Very prog heavy rock...not sure what to make of the long repetitive songs.

I don't remember these guys. Listened to "stars", that's a great tune.

Well, it's been 22 years since they released anything...

and 6 minute songs were pretty much the norm for half the songs on each album.

I haven't stopped listening to this masterpiece. It's like when My Bloody Valentine dropped "mbv" outta fuckin nowhere in 2013. It was like "What????????" Failure with "Come Crashing". like - THISis how you come out of hibernation. Do Doug or Boyd have any faves on Inlet? Hard to pick one......

Waves, In The Den, Step Into You are early favorites.

It's weird. It's hard to skip over a song on a perfect album, but Step Into You might be the one I would skip, even though I don't.
I am TOTALLY with you on Waves and In The Den.
Waves is how you begin an album, and Shapeshifter is how you end one.
I fucking cried tears of joy when I heard Inlet for the first time a couple weeks ago.
I was cutting my lawn yesterday and I just brought out 3 Miller High Lifes and my phone and BT headphones.
I was in no hurry, because it wasn't that hot, so I went back and forth between Inlet and DIH.
THANK YOU HUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's sacrilege, but I like Pleased to Meet Me better than Let It Be. It's second only to Tim, in my opinion.

I don't know why it's sacrilege. I've always liked Pleased to Meet Me a lot more than Let It Be.

Hey BMac, forgot to ask you sooner, but what are your thoughts on the Greg Dulli solo album? I can't fall in love with it, try as I may. Just doesn't have the highs of the last two Whigs albums.

I was far too young when Let It Be came out to know what was going on, but it seems like it's a very important album to alternative-minded rock fans who were high school or college age in the early to mid 80's. It's really impossible for me to put myself in the head space of an alternative rock fan in 1984, but when I first encountered Let It Be in the early 00's, it sounded like a noisy and tuneless mess.

On par with the last album, maybe not as great as RTJ2, but still a great listen.

Yep, this is really good. Lots of Tom Waits influence here.

It's terrific. I can't stop listening to it.

I"ll fourth this, just fantastic.

I'm right where you are (right down to getting into the 'Mats in late '04). It has a reputation, and "I Will Dare" and "Unsatisfied" are classics, of course, but Pleased to Meet Me and Tim are far superior albums. I think purists ding Pleased to Meet Me because the drunker of the two Stinsons was out of the band by then, but come on: "Alex Chilton"? "Skyway"? "The Ledge"? All of it but "Nightclub Jitters," really?

Slug of Atmosphere and Murs put out an album together. I did not know this until today, so I'll have to be listening to that, the new Slaves album and the new Fall of Troy album today. Good day for music.

The Fall of Troy album is mixed very thin. There's hardly any low end. You can barely hear the bass guitar.

That album had a lot of promise but really didn’t hit home. Low Light was the best track there for me.

Do the Evolution is better live.

I like No Way and Given to Fly, too.

Yield is a highly underrated album. The only clunker is Pilate.

I agree. The end of Chain Wallet, Nike Shoes is a good example of this. On my phone I could barely notice the bass line. In my car with the EQ pushing low end...still on the softer side but hints at a really funky outro.

Even mixed differently this album wouldn't outrank OK to me. Been awhile since I've heard the older albums or Just Like Vinyl so I'd have to revisit.

The new Blink 182 song Quarantine. Holy shit. Where did they learn how to play like that? I would also like to know how they got Travis to drum like a normal fucking drummer instead of a hip hop drum machine.
