And the division was named for a specific member of Sauk nation. If you think about it, maybe he's a great inspirational name for the kids today. After all, in 1812 he fought to push back the white settlers away from sauk territory and again in 1832 during the black hawk war.

it makes sense though why a team would design a logo thats derogatory to an entire race of people. its just that in the blackhawks case, the logo looks so cool its almost like they tried to be respectful to indians but we all know they tried really hard to make them look bad.

If Native Americans object to being used as team names, logos, and mascots who are we to say whether their feelings are just? Like I said, I don't find the Blackhawk name or logo as being particularly racist or insensitive but it's not my race and culture. Plus, I don't really care if the Hawks have to change their name and logo or not. I'm sure as hell not a jersey wearer. However, I will enjoy all the anti-PC folks bitchhhing and moaning about it.

I haven't quite logically thought out the reason but it seems different when the team is named after a distinct tribe/group versus something more generalized.

Anyway, I can differentiate Redskins and Indians from Blackhawks or Chiefs as the first two are either slurs or incorrect identifiers

If your general operating principal for outrage is that no ethnic group should be used as a cartoonish mascot, you can see that your work isn't going to be limited
