Marlins want a catcher and are looking at Gerald Laird and Ramon Hernandez.

Yankees and Mariners are in a standoff concerning Jarrod Washburn

Kyle Lohse has been made available by the Cardinals

Maddux to the Dodgers is stalling

Former Cub Will Ohman expects to be on the move before the deadline.

The Rays are looking at Adam Dunn and Jason Bay.

If I'm a Rays fan, I would be really pissed. For the first time in your teams history you got a chance to win something, and they didn't trade for the extra bat they need. What a bunch of cheap asses.

I am happy that the Cards and the Brewers weren't able to fortify their respective bullpens.

Of course they can still get a transaction done thru waivers but at this moment good news for the Cubs.

I can't say I blame them for not making a move. From what I've read because they have such a good minor league system teams were trying to rob them. I wouldn't give up David Price or Reid Brignac for Jason Bay or Raul Ibanez either. There's no reason to overpay at the beginning of what should be a long run of winning teams. They can still try to pull off a waiver deal to improve the team this year and not hurt the long term future of the franchise.

if I'm a Rays fan, I'd have shown up to the ballpark this year early and often, rather than jumping on the boat miles after it had started sailing...
