Don't mean to be a party pooper, but I just think it is unfathomably unlikely for a space-fairing species to, one, find us by accident and observe us and, two, allow their craft/probes to be discovered by us.

These are beings that would have to be able to harness energy production at levels we can barely conceive of in order to make an interstellar road trip to check us out, but we are naive enough to think that they would allow themselves to be seen by the FLIR on a Super Hornet?

Theoretically anything within 120 light years of us could have somewhat easily detected us.

But they would have to have been inside their interstellar travel window (Nearing the upper limit of Type 1 or anywhere in Type 2 on the Kardashev scale) within the last 120 years or so. That seems impossibly unlikely.
