Went down a rabbit hole of some 90s action on the network. How did Ken Shamrock and Steve Blackman ever get multi year runs in this company? They make Brock Lesnar look like The Rock on the mic.

I watched some of that era recently, they both did suck but they were both getting big pops. I guess everyone was. Crazy time. Crowds were awesome back then.

Yeah, the crowds (and shows) were nuts. That late 90's roster was just stacked. I re-watched a raw I went to in 1999 (Jerichos's WWE premeire). Jericho's pop was just massive. Nearly everyone who appeared on that show is a HOF'er.

I was there for the Jericho debut. Awesome.

The pop for Austin coming out to help Mankind win the title is still the craziest reaction I've ever seen.

The dubbed music for entrances and during some segments on the network is terrible. Like comically bad...

I'm watching a Raw episode from 1999 right now. For some reason the commentary has been dubbed. Cole & Lawler are doing commentary, but Lawler & Ross are obviously at ringside.

Sorry, it's 1998. 12/7/98. Not sure why JR would be edited out, but they do mention something about condolences for JR'S mom passing away. Maybe this was a taped Raw, and his mom died before it aired. But that seems way too elaborate to dub over commentary.

Good talker for that time and he was the one who would get beat on so Billy could shine.

He was not a very good worker, but he was always a great talker. He is like the Attitude Era version of Michael Hayes. The New Age Outlaws were crazy over during that time and his mic ability is one of the reasons.

You are looking at it through today's lenses. He was super over and helped turn the NAO from heels to faces simply because of his mic work. Just look at the reaction he gets from the crowd; they were all in.

I remember hating him back then too. He was just not funny or entertaining at all.

Looking back, it seems that way but at the time it was received well.

Referencing weed (he and the godfather) was highly TABOO stuff

Road Dogg is what Enzo should have been if he wasn't nuts and Vince wasn't old.

NXT Enzo and Cass were over to NAO levels.

Moving ownward. Gangrel's entrance is probably the best thing ever. I'm not sure how that guy never got over. Great entrance/gimmick, and teamed with two of the best workers of the era. The Brood should have gotten a major push.

Probably because he looked like Paula Deen's twin brother

9 years too late to capture the gay teenage vampire crowd from The Lost Boys. 9 years too early to capture the gay teenage vampire crowd from Twilight.

If we had to sacrifice Gangrel to get us prime E+C, I'm fine with that. I used Gangrel's entance music for my created wrestler in the old N64 WWE game.

Road Dogg is like the 5th best wrestler in his family. Kick him out of the HOF.

TalkNShopAMania was exactly what you'd expect from Gallows' back yard.

The Boneryard Match lived up to the hype.

Actually ,the Vampire crazy was at its top then with Vampire the Masquerade. The WWF was paying White Wolf a shit ton of money to use the name Gangrel ,if you look at the name it has the small little tm on it, only time on WWF at the time cuze they where using it from them. Gangrel is one of the Vamp clans from White Wolf. The World of Darkness had at that time in history the chance to be even bigger than D&D then they shot themselves in the fucking foot.
