He's been Mike Trout so far.

I'm just amazed how well he does stealing bases. It isn't like he is getting a huge lead off first. HE isn't. But what he does is read the pitcher extremely well and get a great jump and crossover step toward 2nd and hits full speed quickly. The kid is really the real deal as a base stealer. Now I see why they wanted him to lead off.

Stealing bases has been frowned upon for years now. It's good to see a future superstar not have an issue stealing bases with his oven mitt.

He's the fastest player in baseball who can reliably put the bat on the ball when he wants to.

I mean its pretty much easy mode while Robert has this speed. As long as he strikes out less than thirty percent of the time its almost impossible for him to bat below .300 with how fast he is.

Combine that with the fact that he can put the ball four hundred feet without really trying, which makes him a difficult player to throw strikes to, and he just really cant go wrong. He wont be this fast for long though, he's too huge. Enjoy this iteration of Luis Robert while it lasts.

It's only frowned upon if you're not good at it. I believe stat-heads say it's advantageous if you're above 70-75%.

You see Terrell Owens running at 4.41 40 this year? And he's 46. I don't think we can say he will be much slower before the end of his current contract. And knowing the White Sox that's when Robert will go to New York or LA for $500 million.

Its just nice to see him not get stifled. Anderson was an elite base stealer in the minors and then just never really hit his groove with it in the majors.

The Sox control Robert thru 2027 wfr.

He'll still be fast but right now he's in a class all his own with his speed. That will more than likely diminish with time.

I know. I don't think we have to worry about a huge decline in speed by then. We have the rest of his 20s under contract.

I don't know which of the young guys will be the best overall player. Robert has been great so far, but Moncada might be even better. Moncada has the best swing I've ever seen a Sox player have. It's just perfection.

Talent-wise Robert is on a different plane of existence to Moncada and Jimenez. That doesn't necessarily guarantee a better outcome, but Robert is legitimately Trout-like in his ability.

One of the things that I was impressed with in the game yesterday was Mazurs outfield play and arm. His range into deep right center field took probably a triple away from the hitter and he looks like he has a great arm also. If he hits .250+ he will be a very solid addition to the Sox.

I'd rather not steal bases than wear that thing.

It's not just the talent. He's made more adjustments at the plate in 3 weeks than Moncada did in a year.

Moncada is the picture perfect image of a WARpig. He does a lot of nice things but he doesn't seem to impact games the way his numbers would indicate. Jose Abreu is barely worth two wins above replacement but watch the Sox and you'll see Abreu contributes way more to game winning plays than Moncada.

Still, I'm not throwing thirty home runs and .350 OBP out of an elite defensive third basemen out of bed. Moncada's overrated but he's still a legit all star.

So we're pretending Abreu hasn't have prolonged periods of nothingness?

We're not. Even when he's struggling it feels like he finds a way to drive a RISP in.

Each series Robert is showing us something new. Just this week he has seemingly gotten more comfortable taking pitches and is now drawing walks. With his speed, a walk is dangerous as he's only a pitch or two away from using that speed to swipe 2nd and get into scoring position for Moncada and Abreu.

I think you have to factor in that for the majority of his six years he has been shouldering such a large burden for this offense while the Sox give the cleanup to the Palkas and Delmonicos of the world. This is new territory for Jose and I'm excited to see how it changes his results

Abreu's 162 game aberage is 32 HR, 110 RBI, and an .861 OPS.

Over a six-month season he goes to cold stretches just like any other hitter, but to say he goes through "prolonged stretches of nothingness" is simply not true.

I'm not going to die on the Jose Abreu hill. That would be silly. I want to have 3 productive years out of him just like everybody else. He's a smart hitter. There's no question about that. Hence, the RBIs.

He's going to be an incredible player, but right now he is swinging and missing a lot of low breaking balls.

the 116 mph exit velocity on this is the 3rd hardest hit ball by a Sox player since 2015
