just noticed that 13 of the 16 "mediocre" NL teams have a winning record at home (you can factor in interleague play where they got dominated once again by the AL). I am curious if there is a legit home field advantage in baseball? I would guess over the years the homefield win % in the NBA and NFL would be a lot higher than MLB. Is this an anomoly? I am too lazy to run the numbers but I would guess yes. What drives the homefield adv in baseball, knowing your stadium? the walls, the bounces, the lighting, adrenaline from the cheers? these are all legit but I would still say the NBA and NFL have more "legitimate" home field advantages.

The home team hitting in the bottom of the 9th is the biggest home field advantage in sports. I'm not sure why the home team is winning at such a high rate this season but there has always been a great home field advantage in baseball.
